Mesquite tree spraying pains

Mike120, what hp tractor would be needed to pull that plow? Wouldn't the tractor first have to drive over the mesquite? That would work good on a small dozer. I had a larger dozer cut out about 10 acres with a similar but larger plow. The ground was so rough afterwards I could not walk on it. It had to be disked several times. Yearly maintenance on the 10 acres is about a day of plucking the new growth out with the BH.

I have not seen, nor heard of an attachment like this. Have any of you? It removes the brush and the entire root system. I have found many that cut it off at ground level, ....

Here is a link to a puller. Does yours work with the same principal? Please respond, I'm very interested in non-chemical mesquite control. I have about 40 acres of mesquite that needs thinning.

Big dozer root plows work great but make a mess. All the one's I've seen work more on brute force than any real cutting action.

I've only seen the Kotara used once behind a 60hp MFWD. He had it down about 6-8" and didn't seem to be having any trouble. It's supposed to cut up to 3" on the regrowth. They make it in 5 sizes from 6' to 12' and like any ground contact implement the size of the tractor will depend on the soil conditions. I'm sure they would have some recommendations. In the sandy Pearsall area during a drought you could probably pull it with a riding lawnmower, but it would take a D9 if it gets into the hardpan.

It's amazing how much regional differences change perceptions. The only mesquite I can find around here is expensive and comes in a bag :) It's starting to sound like I should take a road trip to Texas and help y'all clear cut. And of course load my truck.
