I guess if you don't have access to a local dealer. Messicks will work (and I have bought stuff from them and Coleman in the past, however, my local dealer and Messicks and Coleman are very close in price and I get an across the board 10% discount on all parts from my dealer with NO shipping charges. Consequently, I buy from my local Kubota dealer unless what I need isn't in stock (usually is). If it's not and I need it asap, I get it from Messicks or Coleman.

I have a philosophy about dealing local as well... If you don't support your local dealer, at some point he won't be in business and you lose them. Been doing business with my local dealer for at least 20 years and numerous tractors, implements and parts and I can depend on them for excellent service (when I require it) as well.

Neither Messicks nor Coleman can provide that for me. Internet purchases are all well and good but if you need hands on service or repairs, the Internet is worthless.

My "local" Kubota dealer is over 90 miles away, so everything must be shipped anyway.
Not everyone has a dealer in town, or a town or two away.

All above points well taken. Out here in the boonies everyone farms and it's mostly green and me being orange, I get some interesting looks but, I have 2 Kubota dealers within 20 miles. The one I do my business with and the 'other' one that I won't because their prices are much higher than my dealer charges. Consequently, he not only gets my parts business, I buy my tractors from him and hay tools as well.

Think I mentioned one time in another thread, Dealer A (my dealer) charges 9 bucks a can for ROPS grey. Dealer B ( the one I don't buy from) charges 12 bucks a can. So. one, I agree they can charge (parts service and tractors) whatever the market will bear. My 'market' won't bear that because I know my dealer is substantially less. (could be why he's always so busy selling tractor and parts).

Dealer A (my dealer) is a mom and pop shop. Nothing fancy, wood stove in the show room, coffee pot in the corner with styrofoam cups (if you can drink it)...lol. Dealer B is the tractor supermarket store, polished tile floors, fancy showroom, well dressed sales people and.... much higher prices. Me, I like no pressure, laid back people to deal with. Do everything on a handshake. Wife just bought the new Sidekick, told my dealer (owner) what she wanted and he ordered it asked him if he wanted a down payment, he laughed. That is the kind of people I like doing business with.

This last spring I bought a used M9000, Didn't buy it from him because he didn't have one and could not find one but I did, 300 miles away and I went and looked at it (I know my M9's I have one, bought it new) and bought it. Brought it home and my dealer 'A' came out and looked at it and told me I paid an excellent price for it and he'd take care of any shop service it may need. He could have just as easily blown me off. Just the opposite happened. Even jotted down the serial number so if I need something, I can call the parts manager and get it in as much as my other M is a cab unit and this latest one is open station so it takes some different parts.

Why I prefer dealing with the dealer I deal with. Maybe I'm lucky in that respect but, I do know that when I buy parts, filters or whatever, my dealer's pricing is right in line with Messicks and Coleman, within pennies all the time, consistently.

Ditto on high shipping prices and long lead times. Ad in the ridicioulus CNH parts markup it takes all the fun out of workin on a tractor. I guess it beats driving 1 hr. out the way to go to my NH dealer.:drink:

& watch the Bozo try to figure out HOW to screw me even more, w/o it showing up on the invoice.. OR..I can get on the computer & order it for 1/2 the price & have it at my door step the next day.. for 25.00 shipping..Hmmm..

Should have been able to send that Media Mail from the post office for $5 or less. Not sure how that helps, though.

You are fortunate!
"2 Kubota dealers within 20 miles" ....is an entirely different situation than mine.
NO Kubota dealer within 90 miles.

Messick's isn't the cheapest on parts or shipping but they do have great service. I have spent $60 bucks or more this past month in shipping alone just because I didn't plan my orders correctly, ordered the wrong item and ran out of paint.

Messick's also has a really great website that allows you to order what you need at your convenience. I will happily use them but am going to start building a relationship with my local dealer too. I would like to keep the money in the local economy as my business depends on other businesses doing well.

I looked into buying the Titan copy of the Lane Shark from Messicks. They quoted me the "junior" version, not what I asked for. Their shipping charge was an unbelievable $850 for lift gate service. I have a tractor and forks, so I don't need lift gate, they didn't ask. The phone system and company do not appear to be setup for online ordering. I had to tell the lady that answered the phone whether this was ag, construction or something else so that she could direct my call. I called it ag, they call something else. The guy that she sent me to wasn't the right guy. Why can't I just tell you the item and you direct my call? All of the people that I talked to were very nice, courteous and tried to help, but overall I was totally unimpressed with the process.

If the prices aren't that great and the shipping is high, why would I shop there? I can drive 200 miles one-way to buy the same item in-state, pay sales tax and still be way, way ahead. Maybe ordering parts is better than equipment, but I usually go to my local dealer for parts.
