Well now, Mith, that's a pretty good list of possibilities you have there. I especially like:

( A tool for forcing into small openings to see how far it will go in before it gets stuck )

and since I have a variety of tools designed for this purpose, I woundn't be at all suprised if you were right, but it's the hole and the slot that have me wondering. If your suposition is correct, then these details must be used in some way for extraction. This of course implies that I have only part of a set -- the rest of the set being the tools used to engage the slot and hole for removal of said thingy from previously discussed small opening.

I think you are the closest of any of the 'guesses' so far. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

BKY was right

check out this link - see page 5

It's called a wedge bolt and used for attaching handset concrete forms together

Looks to me like the tool to remove a Morse Tapered bit. It takes a wedge type tool to remove a Morse type bit. The hole in it is to keep it handy to the milling machine (or drill press).

That's my best answer. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We called 'em snap ties.........used for joining metal concrete form sections together, does your house have poured concrete walls anywhere ?? You drive the wedges in & back out with a hammer............it's real easy to lose a few that way on every job..........

OK, your guys got it. I looked at the PDF and it sure fits the drawing of the concrete form thingy to a tee.

I'll be making more dirt tomorrow, maybe I'll find something else. This turned out to be quite educational.

(I still like Mith's answer though.)
