Comments, good or bad on this brand of snowblower appreciated. I bought one and have yet to use it.It is mounted on my Kubota bx2200 the model is sb51ec,actually mfg.by M.K.Martin in Elmira,Ontario. How does one know if you are running at the correct 540 R.P.M.. It looks very crude. Thanks!

i've sold Meteor brand blowers for several years as a lower cost option for some of my customers and they have worked out very well. Most of the ones we sold have had the optional skid shoes. Good Luck! Tractorman

I have had a 75" Meteor blower since '98. It works very well. I live east of Buffalo, NY. The (optional) skid shoes are a big help on my gravel drive, although they reduce the effectiveness of the blower on minor snowfalls.

I have found the weakest part of my blower to be the unshielded chain drive for the auger. I got a rock in between the chain and auger sprocket last year, and spent about $100 in parts replacing the chain, auger sprocket, and chain drive bearing. Other than that I have had no problems with it.

I generally switch to a rear blade late in the season, after Lake Erie freezes and the lake effect snow stops, because the blower is not that great for ice, slush, or less than 3 inches of snow.

I used my new 60" Meteor for the second time yesterday. So far so good. I have a 350' gravel driveway plus the turn-arounds, etc. The chute rotation is a bit crude but it does work fine. I'll use the additional skid shoes until I get a good base then I'll try removing them. One thing I am going to purchase is some kind face protection, ouch.

Can someone post a picture and some dimensions of the skid shoes, so I can see if my welding buddy can make me a set. I have had a 78" Meteor blower for a couple of years and I am well pleased with its performance. Simple, rugged design that does the job - it is hard to beat that combination, but I would really like to remove less gravel from my laneway when I use it.

Thanks
Bob

How much are they charging you to just purchase them from your dealer? Mine were $50 total and I doubt my welding buddy could make them for $25 ea. They do work well.

Thanks - I got mine second hand (a long story about and not necessary here) and there were no skids with it - I didn't even know they existed. I check with some local folks when I have a chance but, if anyone can post a photo I'd really like to see what I will be asking about.

I have a 60" Meteor rear PTO blower on my B2910. I clear 3/10 mile of relativily straight, hilly, gravel drive as well as my door yard. This spring in N central NH we had a few heavy, wet snow falls. The blower walked right through it. I keep the skids at their max until the snow packs then use them at the minimum untill the thaw in the spring.

Dourobob,Here is a picture of the skids on my Meteor. As you can see they adjust by moving to the next hole. If you have access to a welder and some metal, they should be easy to make.David

Excellent David - just like the rest of the snowblower - simple and effective. Thanks for the photo. I think this may be what I try when I take welding instructions from my friend .
