Metric Hardware

All my Japanese vehicles use ISO metric hardware. In Canada it is fairly easy to find metric hardware. Standard is much easier though.

How about trying to find whitworth stuff for your old British car! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes whitworth is a problem, try finding wrenches, etc for them.

Old british cars are only for someone who likes to work on them all week to drive them on the weekend anyway /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had forgot about that, thanks for bringing it up! So much for the unifying factor for metrification. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I bet the French had something to do with it. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Oh, wait! Wasn't S.I. dreamt up by the French? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Brad, in the Dallas-Ft Worth area we have Elliot's True Value Harware Store. They have the best off-the-shelf selection I have found anywhere. They are a bit expensive, but when I need something, time is money and Elliots is usually the last place I have to look. They have bulk bins and also rows and rows of those small specialty boxes that Junkman mentioned. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's been awhile now, but when I need something I just can't find anywhere else, I go to Elliot's.

I toured the True Value Hardware warehouse a few months ago. I couldn't believe all the items that are available to their stores. The only way to describe it, is "if it is made, True Value has it in the warehouse". I needed some staples for a Arrow T-75 gun. The local True Value didn't stock them, but did get them in less than a week. I had been looking for these staples for almost a year in other places to no avail.

slowzuki,
My B7100 Kubota manual shift is about 25 years old. So things may be more standardized at this point.

By the way though, how about the Russians. I couldn't find a table for their thread pitches, but they HAVE to be different don't they?

i was in my local true value hardware today looking for a 6mm x 60mm long bolt, longest anyone else had was 40, so i figured i would stop in and see what they had, i looked up and down the aisles with fasteners and found just a few small drawers with little metric bolts, i was almost ready to say o well and leave when i looked around the other side of the racks and saw a whole half aisle with a sign that said "our new metric section" well sure enough they had what i needed and anything i could need for any metric bolt ever i think, i was very pleased with the selection. might wanna check out your local true value and if they dont have it ask them about getting into metrics more
