Nice looking unit. You say you're just learning to weld but you must be doing something right . You're working that pretty hard yet the teeth are staying where they belong.

Re: MF 135 thinks it\'s a dozer

Since it is obvious you can weld and since we know you are clearing land using a tractor here is something you may need. I built the first 1 20/25 years ago to clear a bunch of plum trees. I couldn't afford to hire a dozer so since I had an old WD Allis with a 3PH that I also built I made a tree grubber. In my native NC red clay, which is tougher than whang leather anyway, I could still grub 3-4inch pines. Maybe this will help. Later, Nat

Re: MF 135 thinks it\'s a dozer

On this grubber, I used a piece of an old school bus frame for the upright and the gripper edge. I just cut a notch with the torch that is about 4 " on the open end and extends back around 6". Just lower it to the ground and back the tractor up till the gripper edge starts to bite into the tree and then raise the lift while still going backwards. It will pop the tree right out and will stay stuck in the grubber so you can carry it to the burn pile.

Re: MF 135 thinks it\'s a dozer

When you get it to the pile, just lower the lift and pull forward and it will come out so you can go get the next one.
Thw tree in the gripper on the pic id a 2" pole gum, and that is tough stuff. A 3" pine 30 foot higgh will come out much easier than a gum. I cleared around 4-5 acres of plum and pime thickets with mine. I made this one do triple duty with the addition of a reciever hitch for moveng trailers, and the pipe and plate on top are for moving my 5th wheel camper. The tounge weight of my camper is a little over 2000 lbs and that make my tractor squat. I have a 3000 Ford, about the same as your 135. HTGH, latter, Nat

Re: MF 135 thinks it\'s a dozer

So far all the welds have held on. I bent one tooth pretty good and I was very surprised to see that it held. In contrast, last week I made some brush forks for the loader on my dad's Kubota L2350 that broke a weld. You can definitely learn alot from examining where it went wrong.

Nat, I've looked at your attachment before and almost made the same thing. I've decided not to use the rake for too much more hard stuff. I made a toothbar for my dad's tractor and was amazed at what it could do. Next time I use it I'll try to take the time to get some action pics. I'm usually too anxious to get started playing to get the camera. I'll use my tractor to push piles to the burn area and moving the bigger stuff. I really don't want push either of the machines since it's looking pretty good that we'll get the dozer we've been looking at.

Thomas,

I'm just like you!! If I want to get something done, but don't have the tool to do it, I improvise and figure it out. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice job on cleaning up the land!!!
