Hi All,

I'm looking to make a purchase to help maintain a private road(about 1.5mi), several properties on road(landscaping, snow removal, drainage), and some snow removal for a few folks living close to this private road.
After doing some research I feel comfortable that 1758 Massey will do the job and I feel that they are a better value than Deere or Kubota, although I am not opposed to hear about other machines(I'd prefer to stay at this size or slightly larger).
So I received two quotes on the 1758HL both equipped with
-enclosed cab
-hydro trans
-FEL w/72" SS bucket(DL135)
-R4 tires

1st Quote @$39,900
2nd@$36,500

Are these numbers reasonable?
Also has anyone had a dealer show them a manufacturer's invoice?(all dealers I've asked have not)

Thank You in advance for any consideration

That looks like a good price. Probably a little less than I paid.

I didn't ask to see invoices. Just shopped around a little. btw it's a great machine.

I have 1754 hydro cab. When it is running correctly it is a great tractor! There are some discussed issues that have been posted by other members with 1758 and 1759 hydro tractors. You might want to do a search and review those posts. Here are a couple to get you started.

Apparently, not everyone is having the problems. I spoke with a regional AGCO rep. the other day and he said they are seeing a lot of hydro tractors arriving at dealers that have been overfilled from the manufacturer with hydraulic fluid by 1 1/2 gallons. This was the case with my tractor which may have lead to some of my pump issues. You might want to check the hydraulic fluid level of the specific tractor that you are looking at prior to purchase.

Overall, the fit and finish is pretty good on my 1754. Performance/power has been as expected. Ergonomicso are good in the cab. Tractor is very stable and traction is good even though I run big turf tires. I've never had any power issues running any pto implements, i.e..., brush hog, finish mower, chipper, sickle bar mower, snow blower, sprayer or post hole digger. I've done a lot of work pulling stumps using the drawbar and straps. Works very well.

Pricing wise, your $36,500 looks pretty good from what I've seen in my area. When I was looking, I was pretty much able to get dealers to match other dealers' pricing with a little persuasion. However, there were two dealers where the price was the price and it was high! The biggest trouble I had was finding a tractor that I wanted in stock.

Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks for the info Onion. I'll check out those links later today.

I also agree finding what you want in the dealers stock can be problematic. I'm willing to travel to get the tractor I want which gives me a little more to choose from. I have noticed the dealers below New Jersey seem to be a bit more ready to move their stock and have more flexibility on cost.
