G'day Everyone,

First post, great forum for someone with an interest in tractors.

I will hopefully be purchasing a new tractor within the next few months and one of the models I'm interested in is from Massey Ferguson and it is in the new MF4700 global series. Being a new model I am having trouble finding any reviews on it. And the fact it isn't available in the USA (I'm in Australia) makes finding any information that hasn't come from the MF marketing department very hard. The model I have been researching is a MF4707 powered by a AGCO POWER AP3. These tractors come out of China :ashamed:
Does anyone know much about these engines? I thought they may be similar to the 4600 series but they aren't. The 4700 seems like a cheaper version of the 4600.

Some of the other tractors I am considering are Kubota M7040, New Holland TT4.75, John Deere 5075E and possibly a Deutz Fahr.
I Currently have a John Deere 5525n and a Massey Ferguson MF20. I do have a soft spot for the John Deere but there are a lot of bad reviews on the 5075e. I like the Kubota but the price is bit of a turn off considering the actual usable PTO horsepower the tractor actually has. I like the look of the New Holland but I have a deep dislike for Fiats and the Deutz ticks all the boxes for price and power but after sales service is bit of a worry.

Anyway enough rambling on from, thanks in advance guys and keep up the good work

Charlie

To TBN from USA. Glad you finally posted. I found info the 4708 and 4709 but not the 4707. Are you looking at the 2 or 4wd?

Hey Mddorange,
I'm looking at a 4wd ROPS. I'm in clay so I need the extra grip when working the ground.
Massey Ferguson-MF4707 :74HP MF4707
I wasn't aware they did the 4709. I thought Massey just did the 4707 and the 4708 which comes with the 4 cyclinder.

Yeah I've been to tractordata, I'm more after info on say personal experience with a 4700 series tractor or even information on the engine. It's a chinese made AGCO POWER AP3 but is it based on the SISU in the 4600 models or based on a Simpson/Perkins in the 2600 models?

I was told that the 4700 series is still going to be using the Agco-Power Sisu engine. In the smaller hp units it will be 3 cylinder. The higher hp units will use the 4 cylinder. If I find out more info, I will let you know. The 4700 series is suppose to be cheaper than the 4600's. The 5700's are suppose to fill the significant gap between the basic 4600's and the high end 5600's. I have a large market for a basic 90-110hp tractor.

Keep in mind that the units are being built in China, but Agco built the factory. It is all state of the art design and assembly line. The quality will be the same as all of the other MF products. The 2600 tractors were a Tafe built Indian tractor. This was solely an agreement between Agco and Tafe to supply them with these models. The Global tractors will be built by Agco for Agco.

Thanks KingsEquip.

Yeah from the information I have found the 4700 is a no frills 4600, which is pretty much what I want. A tractor with minimal electronics, but with a few gears to choose from and decent hydraulics.
I didn't know the 2600s were made by Tafe but I have seen a lot of mixed reviews on them. And due to their extremely low price here in Australia all I can think of is "cheap and nasty."

I have the 4707, the tractor is built pretty strong, although the loader is NOT. The 931x loader is a light duty one. In two months I managed to destroy the loader. I'm on my second one and it's very flimsy.
The tractor has 85hrs and am very happy with it over all. There are a few things wrong with it. Has a hydraulic leak around the filter housing you have to remove the tire to figure out where exactly it's leaking. One of the window brackets came loose from the window, and the door latch wasn't properly allied. I'm sure there will be more things I'll find wrong with it. But as far as the engine and drivetrain goes it's a solid piece of machinery.

Hello guys:)

As I know by Internet and all the local MF websites the MF 4707 is not offered in North America, but most other countries. No problem, all the types are mostly the same, only power output, wheels & tires and minor things are different.

These tractors are very good, because easy designed and equipped with everything you REALLY need. Home in Germany all farmers were told by our stupid authorities farmers only need tractors with endless list of all possible items include. So stupid. Supporting a fat industry by poor suffering farmers will become a hard end very soon!

Greetings - Franz

The 931X is an "economy" loader. MF also has a 931 which is more of a professional loader. The weight of the 931 is quite a bit heavier than the 931X.

Forgot to mention, the 931 and 931X use the same loader mounts.

i bought a 4710 in april traded my 4610 for it and it is much more tractor than the 4610 has large cab and its very quiet.that was the biggest complaint with nthe 4610 it was very noisy.it has the same engine but even it is much quieter and smooth running.it handles these steep hills around here with ease and the radial tires and air ride seat make it a very comfortable ride very pleased so far.i know this tractor is assembled in china but it has much better build quality than the Japanese 4610 or the Brazilian 481 I had. im glad to see massey making their own tractors again as the global series were designed and built from the ground up,and are more like the heavy built masseys of the past.the price is very competive too,

Tractors made in China look very reliable when buying, asking is ? How these tractors will look like after half a year of work and how all parts of the sheet will look. I do not believe that all sheet metal parts (small and large) are treated against corrosion (painting is poor - cataphoresis is required). I prefer European quality - ZETOR: ZetorNA (@ZetorNA) on Twitter

I've had my MF Global 4707 for about 4 months. It is a great tractor. I got mine with the 931 Loader. If you are doing loader work get the 931 not the 931x. Many bad 931x stories. Yes it's made at a new factory in China. But it's a Global tractor . Also manufactured in France. The loader are actually ALO/Quicke. The tires are Norwegian. The 4WD front axle is either US/DANA or Italian/Carraro. The engine roots are Finnish/SISU ( now Agco power ). The design was mainly done in France. It is way heavier duty than the 4600 series. The Cab is spacious and well layed out. The heat and air are very good. Get the deluxe with the 12/12 wet clutch shuttle. You can shift just using a button on the shift lever. And the PTO up/down buttons on the fenders will make your life easy. Also here in the US the 4707 ( 70HP ) doesn't use DEF. The bigger brothers 4708 4709 4710 do use DEF. I've got about 75 hours on it, very happy with this choice!

I have been looking at the 4707 also. It looks to be built very well. Also interested in the new 2018 LS MT5.73. The LS does have twice the powertrain warranty (6 years). None of the dealers have one in stock yet though.

Will be getting a hands on look at the 4707 this week.

I was looking at a 4710 today at the farm show. I think it's a good looking tractor. The red paint sure stands out. But red is my favorite color. I love CASE/IH red as well!

I just love the lights/grill configuration. I think it looks very good. Some may disagree.

The 931x loader looks way cheesy/flimsy and sticks out way far though. I'd like to see the heavier 931 loader.

Look at the months AND hour limitation on the warranty. Unless the failure is a result of weathering from sitting outside, it is hours of use that typically contribute to a failure, not actual time (age).
