And maybe with good reason, in a gear box with bevel and spur gears I do believe that the shear additives in gear lube are better then the shear additives in hy tran.
They may well work fine under normal conditions and loads I prefer more of a cushion, you do as you wish.

+1 for old school ways, Synthetic Gear Lube for me.

I was amazed at how long it took small engine mfgrs. to spec multi grade oils. I still wonder why DR stays with straight 30 hd when DR is located up in Vermont and a lot of their products are winter usage items. None of my half a dozen manuals spec anything else (recalling) and in their service kits, that's the oil listed.
