I dont know how to post more than one picture at a time. This is how it cleaned up.The perkins book says not to use any washer as these washers are special. I cannot see anything special about the washers that sit under the injectors. The ones that came with the top gasket set are actually steel washers coated in copper. I have heated my homemade oversize washers to a dull red and threw them in water to make them soft.

As I get older I get more forgetful. It has been a month since I stripped this engine and I have forgotten how it goes together .What doesnt help is I am a plumber and taking a fat chance here. Wish I had a better manual but at least I got the perkins manual and it is a bit of a help but more directed to the machine shop guys. Here I am making a lift bracket as I am battling to lift the motor . You will see that where the plate is there are three holes in. By my thumb is a hole I used for bolting to the head but in actual fact it is the oil pick up from the block. This could have been a disaster as the rockers and head would not receive oil. Luckily I picked this up but what worries me is that I have about 14 nuts and bolts left over and dont know where they came from

I never had a chance to start this tractor. I still have to learn how to drive it and dont understand how many gears it has or how the pto works. When I got to it ,it just would not start so I stripped the head off to see whats going on and found it had blown a gasket. The one liner also had a crack in it but more horizontal to the bore. I wonder what that could be caused by. The bearings looked brand new. I have put in new pistons and all new bearings and a oil pump. I am leaving the water pump but hope the radiator will be okay but I see it had one of its fin pipes blanked and welded.I dont have the radiator or exhaust manifold with me. I tried to see how the injectors and pump worked by setting up the injectors facing up and I took the fuel pump gear off and made a coupling to run the pump off a drill. I noticed this thing is a b*tch to bleed . I got the orientation of the pipes mixed up and connected the fuel line to the return pipe from the pump at first but I got it to pump and it looks like it works okay. Although it is very hard to concentrate on one injector because it took no time and my workshop was a cloud of mist. I am going to take a chance and see if they work. I had to machine my own ferrols and grommets for the fuel system as well as my own aluminium washer for the sump plug.. I am getting closer to finished and I am also getting more nervous this thing is going to blow up on start up .Is there any thing I should know if I want to bench test this thing before I do my 1400km return trip to fit this motor. I think it would be wize to know this thing runs before I go back up to the tractor. How could I make a temporary radiator. Would a hose pipe be good enough. Should I use quick start? Someone said this is bad for a new motor. Also someone said I should use a monograde oil as these tractors are old and not designed to run on our high grade oils of today. He actually told me it would battle to bed in properly .I bought monograde 20w 40 but when I got home the container said for petrol engines or cars with high milage. It had no mention of diesel motors. Can oils be mixed. The tractor needs 6.4 liters of oil and I have some other engine oil left designed for diesels. I didnt want to buy 2 containers.
Will this motor dance around if I start it on the floor.

This isn a simple stand I have made to prevent the engine from falling over . I have a 0.2mm runout on the working face of the flywheel where the clutch will connect on. Is this too much and would it cause a vibration. The radial run out is only 0.1mm .Is there any info on how to set this clutch or better still how to make an alignment tool for the clutch

There is a thread that a Poster made a alignment too from a socket extension.
