Reviving this older thread to see if anyone else has more opinions or a more in depth review of their tractor. I'm considering the 4609 and even maybe a 4610. I would just like to hear from some more people with real world experience.

I now have 60+ hours on my 4610,here are my observations

1.Great pto work tractor(1745 round baler 8 ft mounted disc mower)
2. needs larger fuel tank
3. does not like being under 1500 rpm's
4. fel is very smooth and quick ( no bucket just round bale spear and small square bale grapple for 10 bales at a time
5. filters, oil and hydraulic are a bit pricey ( 2 hydraulic filters)
6. shuttle is very smooth
7. I plan to have cab glass tinted to help a/c ( South Carolina humidity)
8. hi lo range leaver a little difficult to reach (cab tractor)
9. tractor is totally metric
10. I bought this tractor to be my primary hay tractor so I have not plowed or done any heavy pulling with it but every thing in the 3 pt hitch is built very strong

Thank you. That's what I wanted, some real world experience. Does it use quite a bit of fuel? As far as the air conditioning, it seemed a little weak at the dealer. I would much rather have the vents located where Kubota and New Holland have them. Have you used the heat yet? What other tractors were you considering and what made you decide on the Massey? If you don't mind me asking that is.

I traded a jd 5625 for the 4610 and the jd had a 40 gal fuel tank so I really can't get a feel yet for fuel use. I can bale a day and a half on 1 tank. The a/c works better if you keep it set on inside recirculation rater than outside air. The a/c is not as strong as the jd. I looked at new Holland and Kubota, not impressed with new Holland, Kubota I liked better. What sealed the deal for me was not having the diesel exhaust filter on the massey. From what I understand very expensive to replace on Kubota and new Holland. The Kubota dealer I talked to also sells jd, he did not recommend the smaller jd's. The dealer I originally bought my jd from passed away.

I am sure there are many 4609 & 4610 owners out there. Have seen them on the lots since late spring. Attended the Ohio "Farm Science Review" last month and and they were prominent in the AGCO tent area there. I do not own one.
mac1's response is great. Don't we wish that we could always get such a concise and to-the-point response.
-- I'm sure you have a DL260 loader on the 4610. I use a DL250 loader (nearly the same with smaller cylinders) and it had problems due to a NIMCO brand loader valve. I'd be interested as to what brand loader valve you have.
-- The hydraulic filter on my 2660 is $75 at the dealer which is absurd. I will never pay that again. Am looking for 3rd party filter sources. NAPA is a good bet.
-- Glad to hear the power shuttle is smooth. This is AGCO's first power shuttle in mid-size tractors. Manual versions on the 2600 series are not what I would call smooth. The "power reverser" on John Deere products I owned are very smooth.
-- Do you have any comments on the "Quality Control" coming out of the Japanese factory ? I'm betting it is far better than it was coming out of the Brazil factory for the 2600HD series.

Thank you again for your input. If you don't mind me asking another question, what was it you didn't like about the NH? I'm considering the Massey, the NH t4.75 and a Kubota 8560.

I don't know the loader valve brand name but I will look tomorrow and post if I can find it. I do have the 260, I had to wait about 3 weeks on the 3rd valve I had added to fel so I could operate the hay grapple. The loader joystick that came with tractor had to be changed to operate the 3rd valve ( control buttons are on front of lever instead of on top of joystick). As this is a new series I think the bugs are still being worked out and aftermarket filters are not out there yet . I have not had any experience with Brazil made equipment so I can not respond to quality question

Great, thanks for the info. A good dealer is hard to beat I keep hearing. So that will weigh heavily in my decision too. Enjoy your tractor and thanks again.

This has been a really good thread. I am still in my New Holland Tn75s for now. It is 11 years old and has been a repair nightmare this summer. I have had to replace 4 solenoids in the electronic shuttle and it still blinks error codes....but it works normally, so I am leaving it alone. I also replaced the alternator, the a/c compressor and coil, the fuel pump and I can't remember what else. None of these problems happened at the same time...so you can imagine my frustration. Now it is running good and after all these repairs I am leaning towards keeping it. The Galaxy turf tires are a must because almost all I do is finish mowing and they really are amazing with respect to preserving the turf. I do a little bushhogging about 20 acres and they work fine for that. I really do like that 4608 though........a man can't have enough tractors can he??
