Traction MF65 Diff Lock

Namyessam, as you are someone in the know; may i pick your brains - i did a radiator flush because the engine overheated and since then i discovered a very slow drip of coolant from the water pump pulley. I was planning on taking out the water pump and refurbing it. Is there any other cause or any extra work i should do while i have the pump out? I'll probably replace the hoses as they are 50 years old and looking pretty well worn. Thanks
The MF65 has a radiator setup very similar to the 135 on up. The radiator sits on two fabric pads. Carriage bolts slide into the bottom. I beleive the right opening for the carriage bolt allows the radiator when loose to pull forward and then slide the left from it's locking posistion.

Removal of the sheet metal is required to remove the radiator. There are two versions of the MF65 water pump. Compare yours to the illustration before buying parts. You can either buy an entire assembly (plug and play) or rebuilding kit which may require heating the pump shaft to put the pully on it. It looks like the MF65 pump is held on my three bolts. Be careful removing these. To much torque will twist the bolts off. Console with your manual to remove and rebuild. If you don't have the parts book which shows an exploded view of everything on the tractor you can goto. AGCO Parts Books then log in a GUEST and lookup your tractor. If you have a printer, you can print the pages you need which can include a partlist with part numbers. Here's a snippet of the two different water pumps. Good luck. -kid

I had the same problem pull the cover of there are 4 bolts that hold it on there is a cam that moves a pin that engages a jaw clutch and locks the differential the pin on mine was ceased I tried to free it up with penetrating oil that didn't work for me so I removed the housing loosened it up and did the brakes and seals at the same time.

Cooling system all refurbed now and engine purring away - the extra airflow since i thoroughly cleaned out the rad is magnificent. Would you believe i found there was no thermostat in the housing so replacing that will help winter running. It is much easier to remove the front panels completely to remove the radiator and then the water pump. Also removing the bypass elbow is essential in order to fit the new water pump without snagging with the little rubber bypass hose. Cheers for the advice.
