Mice

I've had lots of fun with mice and Chipmunks in my power toys. I'm trying mint oil on the tractor having dumped out an air cleaner full of acorns last week. I also wired aluminum screen across the intake. My cars are parked outside, and the critters seem to love the space between the block and intake manifold on the Subaru. I'm always cleaning that space out. I'm worried about putting much in there that might burn to repel stuff. If I forget it and head out to work, I don't need flames.

I’ve used the apple bait blocks from Amazon. Also have an electronic repeller going 24/7 in my tractor cab as well as mint oil spray. Last year was a problem but nothing this year,so far. Have a couple of neighbor cats that prowl the property.....that helps as well.
Never met a mouse or a rat that was any good.

For a couple of years I parked my tractor under a lean to on a 100 year old barn. The mice liked my tractor. Mouth balls were worthless. I found leaving the hood open and using bags of mint (I think peppermint) from the local co-op solved the problem. I would put a bag on the valve cover, one next to the firewall, and one on the seat. The little bags would work for a couple of months before losing scent.

Now both tractors are kept in shipping containers with zero problems.

Unlike what I read up-thread, I can still get D-con at my local ACE. It may be effective against mice, but for the big rats it just makes a lot of blue-green poop, and doesn't seem to slow them down.

I'd try the "sachet" bags of spice that a local car mechanic recommended, but when I tried it in my trucks they ate the bags.

He does say in the video that moth balls might prevent them from nesting around them, but it won't stop them form coming to grab a quick bite.

Based on some of the other videos, I will be adding mint oil, which he seems to have good results.

In my camper, I put Irish Spring soap, dryer sheets and mothballs. The mice ate the soap and made nests on top of the mothballs out of the dryer sheets.
