Sorry to hear of your loss, Mace. I am glad he was able to hang on for you to share goodbye and not passed in the other room alone. I think he wanted that moment as well.

Mace, sorry to read of your loss. There are no better companions in this world than a good dog. I had to put down 2 of my GSD this month a week apart. One old age, the other to cancer. Like loosing a family member. He passed knowing you cared.

Mickey is the same name as my sidekick, my 12 year old yellow lab. His hips have begun to hurt him and he just barely survived a bloat surgery on new years eve. Still sharp as a tack and all senses top notch, just body starting to decline. I am sorry for your loss. It hurts so much to lose them because you are losing the most loyal, genuine comapanion you will ever encounter. They redefine unconditional love.

He quietly passed away in my arms as I held him.

It is a sad thing when that happens. I'm glad you were able to hold him in your arms as he died. It is a closeness that is irreplaceable. You are a good person. You and Mickey were good for each other.

Mace, I am just getting caught up a little and I too offer my sincere condolences. I have held plenty of pets while the vet administered the shot to end their suffering but only one ever passed in my arms naturally. My first boxer, a 95 lb male fawn died of respitory failure. Been over 25 years now and in my mind, I can still see him clear as day.

Mace I know how you feel Ive held a few like that myself. My old White GSD Lily is getting up there now. Her son is 130 pounds and showing his were and tear from being the alpha male. I always kept a pup off a litter to keep the bloodlines. You have condolences from the Lambert family.
