Middle buster/ subsoiler combo

   / Middle buster/ subsoiler combo #11
Hey HJT,

Get some gypsum pellets and toss on the ground and then till the leaves in. Do this a few years and you will have ground you will sink to your ankles in.

You need to get some dirt on top of the leaves to help them break down... does not take much dirt. The gypsum will really break up the soil. Old ground up drywall will work as well..

I did this to a plot and the corn would not stand up after knee high.

Good Luck and have fun with it.

I purchased the XB from TSC and the lower frame-weld broke, returned it and got a refund. I wanted a replacement but none in-stock. Went back in spring and bought their
new " Farm-Force". Way better-built, thicker metal, better weld + heavier.
I was impressed and the price was the same, even the SS blade and MB blade were larger and stouter...well worth the money

I bought this exact Howse combination MB and subsoiler. The furrow broke half in two in about an hour, the frame that holds the MB and subsoiler shafts bent the first day, and the tip that holds the sub soiler blade bent in the first two days of use. I am taking the frame to a welding shop to have a tube put on it to keep it from bending more. Howse offered to sell me another fine Chinese steel furrow for $50 which I declined and bought two from Ag Supply for less than that and they have lasted just fine.

My massively powerful 28 hp Kubota just killed the Howse stuff. Even worse story with a Howse dirt scoop. Buyer beware.

"I fully agree that the Howse middlebuster/subsoiler is not worth anything. It is poorly designed (designed to bend). Stay away from this product.

I'm late to the party here, but I bought the XB size combo from TSC a couple of years ago to go on my BX. I didn't get to use the subsoiler, but I did use the middlebuster before selling it with the tractor. Now I wish that I had kept it since I think it would work fine on my B2620. My soil is clay / loam with a bit of gravel here, and there. Here are a few pictures of me turning under some winter rye before tilling. I was playing with the angle of attachment a bit to control depth better.

The full size KK might be a better fit for youor new tractor. The XB line is designed for subcomacts like the BX.
