I think the point was that a tool used wrong can do a bad job. And saying its a fault of the tool, is kind of silly (sometimes). Using a MIG wrong is like using a stick welder wrong. Its just easier to learn how to use a MIG right.
I tellya though, jamming that electrode down into a rusty ol’ crack is pretty satisfying. I dont get to do that much though, I mostly weld new stuff or at least clean.
