Yes it is known as a Garden Spider. Had one camp out above my door around 2 weeks ago. I would go out and remove him he would be back the next day. Also had a black widow setup on the front deck.

Funny how they know to make webs around a light source to catch flying bugs. I know they get big, but that one must have been munching on some miracle grow out of your planter. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Some cool looking crawlers... nice having a show that close looks like a lot of fun. So many different machines out there. Thanks for sharing that with us. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for the link! That web site says they only get 3/4" long?!? Mind you only the one on the house was as big as I mentioned but the other few were at least an inch in length just counting the body.

The green trike-like tractor had some kind of three point hitch setup in the back if I remember. I wondered what it was for at the time, only thing I could think of was pulling rakes or speaders... A lot of different equipment there and with most being 40+ years old many I'm sure were modified along the way.

I'll take more pics next year! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mini-dozer 4 th and 5 th to the right, are made by C.F. Struck, and are called Magnatrac. I have an M1800 which is just a little larger than the ones shown. I don't use it much after buying the PT-1445. It's a good little machine, but it is limited. The new larger ones are are all hydraulic, and cost as much as some PT. You can view these by going to the C F Struck web site.

While doing lawn service in Fl, I have run into hundreds of these spiders and webs. They don't hurt anyone, but sure scares the heck out of people. Some people would have a heart attack if they got one of these spiders in the face. I just cuss a lot and go on. Some people even say that if you ever see your name spelled out in their web, you are in for some big trouble.

I had one on the front porch

I once had one on the front porch too. One day I stepped out on the porch to watch an approaching thunderstorm. It wasn't long before I realized I was looking through the web - and that the proprietor was taking it down. An hour after the storm blew by, the web was back up. It must be more efficient to tear it down and replace it than to repair a windblown mess.

J.J.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you say it is limited ? Other than tracks tearing up grass for home owner use.

How is the power and capabilities compared to the PT's? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I thought they looked like the same family as your earlier post. They sure don't look like they were built for comfort! Thin little seats mounted straight to the body... Makes my 180 look comfortable! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's amazing how animals just instinctively know how to do things like that...

I feel a little embarassed now that I haven't seen one of these before... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I grew up on a small farm (mostly animals but an acre or so of garden) and worked many hours at friends farms and it has taken me 36 yrs to see something as simple as a yellow garden spider? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Oh the shame... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
