Meanwhile 239 people are unaccounted for. It's been 2 weeks. How can this be? A huge plane just disappears? I am supposed to believe that a massive 777 can just disappear? If someone were to ask you: Who could pull this off? What would your answer be?
How could a plane this size vanish within an hour of takeoff?
There is a huge piece of the puzzle missing here. It is unprecedented. They found the Titanic and perhaps Amelia's plane. If the NSA can't locate this plane, what good are they? From 36,oookm they can recognize a face, but they can't find a 300,000lb plane with a 200 ft wingspan(empty)?
From Wikipedia:
The United States Space Surveillance Network (SSN), a division of The United States Strategic Command, has been tracking objects in Earth's orbit since 1957 when the Soviets opened the space age with the launch of Sputnik I. Since then, the SSN has tracked more than 26,000 objects. The SSN currently tracks more than 8,000 man-made orbiting objects. The rest have re-entered Earth's atmosphere and disintegrated, or survived re-entry and impacted the Earth. The SSN tracks objects that are 10 centimeters in diameter or larger; those now orbiting Earth range from satellites weighing several tons to pieces of spent rocket bodies weighing only 10 pounds. About seven percent are operational satellites (i.e. ~560 satellites), the rest are space debris.[14] The United States Strategic Command is primarily interested in the active satellites, but also tracks space debris which upon reentry might otherwise be mistaken for incoming missiles.

A search of the NSSDC Master Catalog at the end of October 2010 listed 6,578 satellites launched into orbit since 1957, the latest being

yep. I can lose my phone and go on the internet and find it ( where's my phone )... and this huge jet can disappear.

there is more to the story ....

The NSA wants all of us to believe that they can see everything, anywhere on earth, 24/7/365. The truth is that any ocean is a pretty big place and millions of people have disappeared without a trace. Given that no-one knows for absolute certain in what direction the plane continued to fly for hours and the fact that very little equipment exists in the world for deep ocean searches, it is quite possible that this plane will never be found. If it went into a dive at 27k ft, the fragments may be quite small and with virtually no fuel on board there would have only been a small slick for a short time and meanwhile weeks have passed.

I was somewhat amused by the notion that people expect a fully intact airplane that weighs tens of 1000 of lb to be spotted just below the surface of the ocean, virtually intact. Even the plane landed in the Hudson (which is a feat that is unlikely to be repeated) was submerged by the time it was towed to the bank and that was probably not a period longer than an hour after landing.

This is what I have a hard time understanding...the "plane" and possible reasons for its disappearance...and all the conspiracy theories etc. is all they are flooding the airwaves with...

...like so many in this day and age...they are misguided...!

yup.. ping sonar too.

if they think there is wreckage at a spot. just drop some sonar listeners...

kinda surprised no govt has a nuke sub in that area. .............. that they'll mention anyway. ;)

I find this whole mess sad on any number of levels. Firstly, I don't think anyone has a real handle on where the aircraft could be - just a bunch of wild speculation & theories. Second - technology has it limits & the searchers need a narrowed down area if they are to find the wreckage (or the intact airplane for that matter). Anyhow, I hope this ends well, but currently looks this could be a "Bermuda Triangle" type of disappearance & the plane, pax, etc, may never be found.

You have to be on top of it to hear it. There are not enough aircraft in the world to get a POD probability of detection high enough to fine the plane with a search. It's going to take blind luck now, might be years before a piece shows up, even then you wouldn't know where it crashed. Lol HS

Have you seen even one media interview with the search experts worldwide, the US Coast Guard, and what they thought? Got to wonder about the media, are they even qualified to report news, I think journalists are now closer to actors on TV.

I didn't know you could hear it. So the "ping" is audible?
Why don't they call it a "ding" or a "ring"?

There's so much garbage floating around on the oceans we could start a clean up campaign today and not finish it in a year of Sundays.

Why would someone put a wooden pallet at the bottom of the ocean?

The answer is obvious. They are seeding the globe with recognizable carbon-14 age testing materials for future archaeologists.

If the pallet has charring or discoloration, the residue could be tested for chemical traces of rapid Li-Ion battery oxidation.

Sounds like you are saying that there is no way the wooden pallets are a marker of some sort. Are you saying that this is beyond the realm of possibility? Cause that's what I think I just heard....uh..read.
Meanwhile...there is more junk in the southern Indian ocean 1500 miles from Perth.... This is not the other junk...it's new junk, larger junk or debris....very compelling.
I wish they would find the dam plane
A Chinese satellite has spotted an object floating in the southern Indian Ocean which could be from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. Malaysia's transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein confirms the object is 22 metres long and 30 metres wide Link to video: http://www.theguardian.com/world/vi...ght-new-objects-found-chinese-satellite-video

I hope they find the plane for the sake of the families of the missing passengers. It must be an unending nightmare to be in that position. As time passes, it seems more likely that the plane crashed rather than being hidden away somewhere.

Still a lot of open questions even if they find the wreckage. Will they find enough to figure out what happened? What is the black box able to tell? That the plane was out of fuel or technical details, but it can't read the pilot's mind.

It is not actually audible. It is 37.5khz so it is ultrasonic. Well above human hearing. But of course with proper ultrasonic listening gear it can be hetrodyned down to be be audible if need be. Normally it would be a trace on a sonar receiver display.

Yes I suppose......but I would really like some answers. I was just listening to a retired general on Fox {yea, I know FOX? right} . His take was the plane landed in Pakistan.
My point is that as of now, the plane could be anywhere. I think a lot of relavent questions will be answered with the cockpit recording.
