This morning's pictures. And the gearbox does look very much like the one pictured by Caustic. And I see a filler for hydraulic fluid next to the PTO release lever on pic 6 now that I pay attention.

Can you pull the numbers on your engine and confirm whether it is HST or not?

That model number seems to be grey, which means it is a mixed parts tractor. Likely the chassis and engine originally belonged to different tractors.

Mainly what need to be determined is if you have a HST transmission, single, or two stage clutch. It seems your tractor could be around 40-50hp, so all options are in the table.

If it's a single or dual stage clutch and it's not a linkage issue, then it seems like you may need to inspect your clutch fork and plate. However, that would only be considered after attempting to readjust your clutch linkage first. Having zero freeplay seems like someone may have already messed around with it, there should be a small amount.
The only identifiable numbers are a stamped 4800 on the side of the block.

Here are the numbers on the block. I have also included the hydraulic 'manifold' where the lever on the dash actuates. pic grt shows the rod connecting to the hydraulic manifold and filter assembly.

Closest I can figure on that block number is that it might be the generator engine produced by Mitsubishi Fuso and used in Shibarura tractors (who also made some of the New Holland, ford, case IHI tractors and may have used this engine).

It seems it is not uncommon for Shibaura tractors to be rebrands as Mitsubishi in north America.

If that is the case it is a Mitsubishi-Fuso D3 series engine, most likely the 4D34-T or an earlier version like the 4D33 or 4D32. However Mitsubishi-Fuso also lists it for wheel loaders in the 50-87hp range.

Would need to do a bunch of measuring to confirm or disprove that.

Caustic,

I am happy to gather whatever information you need to help me. I want to better understand this tractor and will need a parts manual and several parts to get her where I want her. Thank you very much.
