Re the mid PTO covers: go to www.homedepot.com
and do a search on "rubber leg tips". There are some
big ones (1" to 1.5") on the third page which might
work...

During one of my (gee it's nice to not have the kids in tow) walks through Home Depot I came across these items. The diameter would be perfect as I remember as well as the material, but they were all too short to entirely cover the shaft. The only thing I came up with was some pool flexible hose that you would have to put a cap on the end. Don't know why, but I didn't get any to try it. I think I was hoping for something cleaner. Carver suggested looking into a bicycle hand grip (which I think will be too small) or I thought maybe a motorcycle hand grip. Unfortunately I have none on hand and haven't made it anyplace to look at them....yet.

I dont have a cover on my 2910's pto shaft. The only ones I've seen on tractors are the kind that bolt or screw on. I suspect that manufacturers don't put the pop-off kinds on the mid-pto's, as they do on the rear pto's, is because they assume they would constantly be knocked and scraped off, especially when you are in brush. I have been belly up in gooey mud many times, both with the mmm on and off. A hose will easily wash the mud off, and you can add some grease now and then. It really hasnt been a problem.

I lift the mmm with the fel, but you could probably run a chain from the draw hitch over a fence or branch and down to the mower. Better hope that the rear of your tractor is heavier that the mmm before trying this, however.
