I was thinking a horizontal mounted chain saw on the canopy would save alot of time trimming low branches my first trip around the yard. After that I wouldn't need it much.javascript:void(0)

Wow, that was fast, thanks.
When I return home (on vacation) I plan on finding a good spot for mounting one.

I got it at Meijer's for $14.00. It says it is for marine use and is rated ABC, so it should cover any problems.

I figure it is money well spent. I always carried one in my truck, but it is sometimes several hundred yards away. This way, I'll always have it. It is one of those things that you buy and hope you never use.

Hi David -

I am thinking of a fire extinguisher, but I'd greatly prefer a Halon, or Halon II, as my understanding is that in the event of a fire, it makes a lot less mess. Here's a link to a cool one, but I think it's overpriced. A Halotron 1 extinguisher Anyone find a better priced one?

Yeah, they do make a mess. At a previous job, a certain co-worker had the habit of sticking a C02 fire extinguiser under the restroom stall door when I was in there and freezing my rear end off. He just thought it was funnier than heck. Did it to everybody. I thought I'd fix him and took a fire extinguisher in there with me for several days. Sooo, the day he tries it again, I blast back at him. Well, being a kid, I did not know the difference between a dry powder extinguisher and C02.

Needless to say, he was quite upset... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think they stopped manufacturing halon in 1994 due to the clean air act. All halon now available is from recyled. Hence the high cost. I don't know if they have managed to come up with a substitute yet. I do know that halon ext are required on all airliners. So there is still a market.

You might consider a B:C rated carbon dioxide unit but they are pricey also. That was probably $100 a pop everytime MR went to the bathroom /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There's probably a great joke there, but it would be censored immediately! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Man, this whole move away from Halon 1211 and 1301 was part of the Clean Air act. I just read through a gnarley report on halon and halon alternatives that for those so inclined, is quite a read. See for yourselves....

It isn't mandatory equipment but I do find a 24" gripper useful when mowing the roadside. I never have understood why anyone chucks their trash out the car window, but the gripper allows me to pickup bottles, rocks, paper, etc. without shutting the tractor off and getting down. I mounted a broom latch to hold the gripper.
