kludge, what are those special boots you have for walking under the canopy? If I had some of those I could retire my step ladder. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

HI,

I HAVE A PT-1445, SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE ATTACHMENT DEVICE YOU MADE FOR YOUR MACHINE.

I CALLED PT ABOUT AN ADAPTER ASSEMBLY FOR PT, TOTAL CAME TO ABOUT $ 750.00 THAT WAS FOR THE QUICK ATTACH UNIT PLUS ONE ADAPTER .

I agree with JJ. This adapter sounds very cool. Would love to see a picture of the adapter and the Hoe.

<font color="black"> </font> The boot print came with the unit from Power Trac. I haven't taken the time to clean it off yet. Still trying to get my other modifications in place. Next up is an adaption of your mini-hoe thumb, but of a lighter duty style.

<font color="red"> also want to see if anyone found a good way to move the knee lever for easyer use of the mini hoe </font>

One solution to the knee-lever on the mini hoe is a diverter controlled by a button on the joystick. See the thread below. It works well, but others have found that with practice the knee lever isn't really too bad without modification. (Sorry about the long URL. I can't get the URL markup to stay on my screen long enough to create a click-on word.)

John: Those wheels look fine. So far, my new rubber filled tires are staying on, but only 6 or 8 hours mowing.

I’m ashamed to show this because it’s such a Rube Goldberg, but it works so well I have set my pride aside to share the idea. This is a lever extender that cost about 4$ in parts from the Home Depot and requires 2 holes to be drilled on the PT. A 3/8” hole is drilled through the knee lever handle to allow a piece of 3/8” all-thread to be attached with nuts and washers (you might devise a better arrangement, I needed something fast). The all-thread is bent to place the handle end just under the left side of the steering wheel. This position allows the left hand to control swing and bucket curl. For an alignment free support point for the left side of the extender I removed the S hooks from a rubber tie down strap and slid (forced) it on the extender and secured it to the PT with a ¼ -20 bolt. This contraption can be installed / removed in seconds. My intent was to use it with the Mini Hoe only, but now I just leave it on. I did reverse the Mini Hoe’s connections to allow curl in / curl out direction to coincide with lever in / lever out which feels more natural to me.

Did you install some pop-up blockers?

Sure did. Is there a workaround or am I condemned to long URLs?

That handle mod is completely cool. I am using the Mini Hoe more, and would LOVE to do this mod. Can you give a few more detail close-up shots so that I can understand what you are doing a little bit better? I can't understand how you got it all to work - I need a list of parts, and a little more pictorial breakdown to understand what you did.

Thanks,

I don't know how pop up blockers work, but see if there are any setting for preferred URLs maybe???

You can always do the URL thing maunally. Remember? Before the upgrade we had to put them in by hand.

Good to know some of us remember the esteemed Rube. That is one elegant solution. I gotta try it! Back when I still had a working minihoe I started in thinking along the lines of some ball joint linkage etc and just dropped it. Too complicated. I like your solution - a great bodge.

Attached is a more detailed picture as requested. The only parts are a piece of 3/8” All-Thread rod with 2 nuts and flat washers and a short rubber utility tie down strap secured with a ¼-20 X 1” bolt. This thing is childishly simple. What makes it work is the elastic properties of the rubber providing support yet allowing off center movement without binding. I consider this a crude prototype hastily assembled with materials I had on hand. I am moving from Downingtown, PA to Florida next week and will be without internet service for some time so please forgive my lack of response for the next few weeks. When I get back online I will be curious to learn of any experiences other PT folks have with this design idea.

I was looking at some older posts and noticed that we have not heard from you in a long time.
Did you end up moving the knee lever?

Well, I made my first modification!

Added the knob to the wheel...

I know, I know, that's not much of a mod, but it's a start!
