Frank, being from Buffalo you should be used to this kind of thing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I would have thought your F-15 could have climbed up over the cloud level.. unless.. you didn't upgrade to an F-150 did you? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman:

70+ isn't legal in Michigan. The speed limit is 55 for trucks and 70 for cars. The citizens of Michigan, in general arrogantly disregard the posted limit and tend to drive at a speed that borders on insane.

Well said, I have always felt the majority of the drivers here in Michigan drive too fast, follow too closely, don't watch the road, are rude and careless and in general create jobs for the body shop employees while jacking up the insurance rates for the minority of careful drivers....like ME.

That stated, I will sit down and shut up for now.

Thats not a problem that happens just in your corner of the world..People always seem to be in a big hurry on the road most anyplace. Speed limit signs are just a suggestion most places I have driven. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Daryl, When I was a youth in Ohio there was a common term for drivers with Michigan plates and it was "Michigander" and was usen in comments such as "driveing like a Michigander" and the like. Don't know the origin but suspect Michigan and gander like in a wild male goose. For some reason a preponderance of folks with Michigan Lisc used to drive like bats out of H E double toothpicks when encountered in northern Ohio. Maybe Ohioans were just too laid back or something and the contrast was enhanced, I don't know.

Women were created, SUV's made them equal. Babes with SUV attitudes find ice does not respect them in the morning or any other time.

I have spent may hours getting cheap thrills in ice covered parking lots after the malls closed and the sidewalks were rolled up for the evening. You can learn a lot sloloming about on ice. Low safe speeds on ice are similar to high speeds (well over 100) as regards traction and its limitations on manuevering. If you exercise a little care you can avoid any curbs and learn to do any number of neat manuevers. I credit some of this sort of thing for my skill driving like a demon in my dune buggy, off roading, and handling skids and drifts on dirt and gravel roads. I have only hydroplaned by accident a couple times and my reflexes and training did the right thing and had me straightened up and in contol by the time my conscious thought process figured out what had happened.

Every year the first slick highways around here turn into one of those Disney ballet scenes with "Hippos on Ice." Pretty much that way every time it rains ater a dry spell. Lots of folks seem to forget that just a little water on roads that haven't been washed off in a while are slick.

"I get a kick of the term "accident" on the news. It's not an "accident", it's stupidity."

I agree. Only about 2-5% of the ones I've investigated were from "an unforseen occurrence", hence the name accident.

Daryl, you're gonna love this.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Here in NC, they have re-named our "accident" reports. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
They are now called "crash" reports. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here in WA, they always call them collisions. Don't know if that's the "technical" term....I always laugh when they call them accidents too. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
