great looking building
I have a friend who had one built 20 years ago for his buisness office and treatment rooms, I helped him do a lot of remodeling over the years making small improvments here and there, then when he semiretired a couple years ago we did a large remodel and made most of it 85% into living quarters built on a room or two etc. its great wide open spaces lots of room for insulation a great all around building

Progress update:

Last week I buried the 5 downspouts that come off of the building and yesterday I installed 200 feet of landscape edging. The landscape edging consist of 1/8"x4"x20' steel pieces with 12" pieces of rebar welded about every 4-5' to help anchor them in the ground. I guess this was better than the stuff you buy at Lowes, etc. Anyway, the next step will be to put down landscape fabric and river rock to give it a finished look.

A few questions regarding the living quarters:

Were you going to occupy during the winter months?

If so, how did you insulate the perimeter at grade level?

How did you seal out the small rodents and bugs?

Did you provide plumbing below the slab?

Thanks,

Yooper Dave

The living space is set up for temporary situations, but we have done the following:

1: The water enters the building under the concrete on the south side, with the hopes of full sun exposure in the winter months.

2: The two exterior walls have 6" insulation and the interior walls have 4".

3: I had a few people suggest a layer of underlayment insulation under the concrete, but others said don't waste your time?

4: The plan is to shut off the water in the winter months since we do not have heat or air. During the summer months; simply turning on the ceiling fan makes it very comfortable.
