John Deere compacts are all built in Augusta Georgia. It’s a little more than just sticking the wheels on...the ehydro tranny is built (yes actually built) in Ames Iowa the engines are Yanmar as most of you know, but the harnesses, engines, axles, are all put together there. Yanmar hasn’t made rebranded tractors for JD in quite a while.
The loaders I think are made in Mexico. It’s as American as you’re gonna get for a compact.

Last time I looked at deere compacts, here's what it said on the loader,

There big tractor loaders use to be made in Canada, but to save money they moved them to mexico, long time ago.

I just bought my B2650 and love it, but before buying guys were jumping up and down on how this tractor was american in these forums. Went to the dealer and I said well at least this is made in America, he just laughed and after looking at some stickers I can see why.

Made in America and Assembled in America mean two different things and I believe have certain requirements for each.

With that said ive always looked at a few things, where is the company based(ie where are the bulk of its share holders) and second how many people do then employ.

I believe J Deere is producing the 3 series and lower numbers in Mexico or other nations, were as the 4's are in the USA.

Different series of Mahindra's are built in Japan (Mitsubishi), Korea (TYM), and India (Mahindra). All are final assembled in one of their 5 regional assembly plants in the US. Some models have loaders and backhoes that are MADE in the USA (not just assembled).

Tires and wheels come from Titan Tire which is the 3rd largest off road tire manufacturer in north america. They manufacture tires for many OEM's and have several plants in the USA.

Hmmm.... three pages so far of "I believers", but not much in the way of hard facts. Frankly I don't know where they come from. But it would be nice to get some real info on who makes what and where. So far it sounds like guesswork to me. Maybe that's just me.

Like k0ua said, the problem is that knowing for sure might revolve around how the advertising dept. for each company decides to use works like "assembled" and "made".

I do know that the discussion has been going on for a very long time. Here are two Yanmar Company publications from 1982 covering the exact same thing. There are some surprising things listed about who made what back in the old days. Sorry about the color; sort of sun-faded. But interesting that at the time not many models listed were made in the USA. Of course, that was probably Yanmar's point. And the documents concentrate on tractors they were competing with.

I think it's just more important to establish which manufacturers are truly interested in producing a quality product. Not just saying so, and not just adding value to share prices. Also, not just making things fancier to increase curb appeal, or to beat the competition to the punch.

I think it's sad that when a company is sucessfull, and sells lots of units, they try and figure out ways to make more money by making those units cheaper, not just in process, but in materials. If a good heavy quality casting worked and never broke, why don't we try something cheaper?

Nearly all compact tractors are "finished" here in the USA. A few parts "may" be even made here. But not many. Kubota has an assembly plant in Georgia, but the main parts come from Japan. Engines, transmissions. etc. It has been decades since a compact tractor was completely manufactured here in the USA>

My GC2410 BH and Loader says they are made in USA, the Tractor says made in Japan.
Nothing is entirely made in USA and even those that claim USA made are made by equipment made in China LOL.

So I grow strawberries but, the fertilizer is made in Canada, the baskets we pick them in are made in China. The tools we use are made in China so Made in America is obsolete-just sayin.

I researched my post earlier, and Kubotas and JD compacts and sub compacts are from Georgia. Without a doubt some or all of the power train comes from Japan or else where. I had a BX tractor for 10 years and I'm pretty sure the loader was made in the US. Even US made stuff had a lot of foreign content. New vehicles even have a list of the amount of US made parts and where is was put together.

I guess the next question does it matter where a Kubota or Kioti is "made" or "assembled", what ever that means? For that matter does it matter where a Toyota is "made". Most of them could be considered Made in America. Where do the parts come from? All over the world. Some Chevy's are made in America. My Chevy truck was made in Ft. Wayne In. Were did the parts come from ? All over. I put two Yaesu radios in my "Made in America" truck. They were made in Japan, from parts from all over the world. Including the USA. Does that make my Chevy less "Murican?". The Antenna was wholly made in North Carolina. Does that help? :)

A good many of us on here would love to buy American products, the reality is that it’s really not possible any longer. I’m sad about that, but I also own a lot of nice products that were made elsewhere. My income is generated from making parts on high end Japanese machine tools. There just isn’t an American equivalent.

No not really. Frankly I think the idea of buying made in america is great and economic wise make sense in a way. But reality is just because its made here doesnt mean its better, or because its not made here doesnt mean its not any good, what determines that often times is is what spec for material and build all together. Fact is if you took something and built it in the US and say China or Mexico using the same specs in like factories, chances are there would be zero difference in quality.

Its a global economy, and second if everything was made here nobody could afford it. The real issue is trade imbalance

I wouldn’t want an American made tractor if they made one. It would almost certainly be inferior to a Japanese or German built one.

It does to me...

Take china for instance: Not everything made in china is poorly made, but MUCH of it is, so I try to put my money where I have the "best chance" of getting a better product.

It's a global economy, folks. :confused3:

Don't accept this crap answer. Our politicians have sold us out many times over. We must retain and maintain the ability to manufacture durable goods-machines specifically. We can not be reduced to a service economy.

Do not continue to accept that bulls$%@ answer "it's a global economy ".

Elect politicians that understand this.

I have a 5HP (163CC) Honda engine which I bought from Northern Tool for my water pump... I have a 6 1/2 HP (212CC) Predator engine on my Troybilt which I picked up at Harbor Freight. The first cost me 289$, the latter was 119$. They both are virtually identical, the biggest difference is that one is made in China, the other is made in Taiwan.

I don’t think that it is the politicians. Unfortunately, I think it is you and me that insist on cheap consumer goods. I think it is good old fashion competition by 3rd world countries that are not on a level playing field. At this point it is hard to even attempt to boycott foreign goods. I do try, and lately i’m Trying to just pick my battles and boycott China.
