Well welcome to the south from the little wide spot in the road of Bismarck. WE are just south of you still on Hwy 7 about 20 miles south of Hot Springs. We moved here from Houston Texas area about 6 years ago and like it. I don't miss the millions of cars from Houston nor the hustle and bustle of the big city. 3 or our 5 kids (all the married ones with children) still live around the Houston area and I sure love to see them and the grandkids but I hate navigating the freeways and malls there.
In Ny, the state thinks all land holders are getting some sort of revenue from it and taxes you accordingly... ours was swamp and an old abandoned gravel pit. We took walks and hunted it, they envisioned some sort of logging income. Taxes went sky high, we sold. Buh bye Ny...finally drove us out.Yes it is beautiful country as I have spent much time in that area. It is especially nice for equestrians with many trails for riding north of there in the Ozark National Forest. Also many nice campgrounds and areas to explore for everyone.
Almost everything is cheaper there as I discovered this year when after 10 years of listing I finally sold my 160 acres for only $937.50 an acre.
