Moving a Utility Trailer with a 2 wheel tractor

There is a Youtube video on the Bad Day At Work Fails, about some Asian Family on an outing with their two wheel tractor, attached to a trailer with them on it. I think the driver falls off, and the thing is going in circles for what seems like the longest time, with neither the people still on the trailer or on the ground being able to do anything about it. Finally it crashes. Quite sad actually.

Went to YouTube to find this and after searching for Bad day at work Fail realized it may take years to find this particular video, so watched first one just for giggles and grins, above mentioned video was part of that compilation at 10 minutes in...

Thanks for doing the leg work. I almost bought one of those same engines a few weeks ago at auction and posted why I could not figure out why it had a headlamp.

Anyway, it sold CHEAP (at Auction) and I completely forgot about the on-line cut off time!

I was thinking about that two wheel tractor and trailer video when reading this thread. :)

Can you imagine just for a moment, considering what life would be like, if that was your only family transportation. Well, maybe their second car is an Oxen. Heck, maybe they are the most oppulant in their village!

The guy getting off the open platform combine and using a tester to determine the moisture content took me back about 50 years @ 2:22 and is called the teeth or bite moisture test. Dad would use a knife after it started passing the "bite" test. You watched how far the two pieces of the grain jumped from the knife blade to judge moisture content. You could tell from the job the tractor drive did this was not the first time she had spotted the grain trailer. I expect this was a test run that the guy cut since it was not a full load and most likely was used for feed on the fly. Not sure but I thought he said '21' when he bit into the grain.

Farmers of yesteryear had smaller equipment budgets in the USA.

ford 850, do you have a photo of your setup? I like the idea of using the tongue weight on the tractor

I thought I had some pictures but I can't find any. It's -15 degrees this morning and a foot of snow so I'm not going to get any new pictures, but the link I posted to Earth tools has some that will give you ideas. There are a couple pictures and a few paragraphs describing the tow coupler and pipe on that page I posted, and a couple pictures of small trailers/carts with the coupler here: Earth Tools

I thought out using uni-strut to mount the coupler in a similar way. Great group here, thanks all.

On that small trailer I talked about above, it had a ball coupler for regular road use. I originally bought the trailer to haul my BCS to a couple locations for tilling and it worked fine. Funny that years later the roles were reversed and the BCS now hauls the trailer. Since I hauled quite a few heavy loads and when I sit on the front of the trailer (bench seat along front wall) it adds that much more weight to the tongue and was beginning to bow the original u-channel. Last year I upgraded the trailer by removing the tongue and replacing it with a length of square tube going all the way to the back. The tube is sized to accept standard 2" trailer hitches and I can add one to the rear to pull an additional cart, wagon, or wood splitter behind the trailer. I left the ball coupler off the front of the tongue and added a 1' piece of 1 1/4" pipe for my BCS coupler. I can also add a trailer hitch to the front of the tongue and attach that behind my sulky or larger tractor. It looks like a train when the BCS is pulling the sulky, which is pulling the trailer, which is pulling the large gorilla wagon. For most heavy hauling I just connect the trailer directly to the BCS coupler.
