Dirt Moving Moving gravel with a carry all

If you have a scoop on back, and a bucket full up front, you may be better to just carry each load that way. A dumping carry all would neat to tilt pretty far in order to fully dump and not require you to get off and scrape it out-if I recall, the angle of repose for gravel is 30 to 40 degrees. You wouldn't need all of that, probably, but pretty close.

How much material are you talking about?

The trick is to not go fast, just steady. I cut a 8ft bank that was next to me pond an filled a large hole making a rec area for the boyscout camp I am building. It just takes time..

That's a nice looking swimming hole! How much fill did you move, and what did you use to do it? How many hours do you figure you've got in it?

Here is a picture (I hope) of the road to the building pad.

I can't find a good picture that shows the beach.

This picture was taken directly below the cabin. The gravel I'll be harvesting is down the beach a ways, off in the distance.

I think you have a part of the answer already. Use that little flatbed converted Samurai (assuming it's yours) to pull a dump utility trailer like what Carey posted. Use the tractor to load the trailer, pull the trailer with the Sami, dump, and go back for another load.

It's hard to tell from the photo how much gravel you're wanting. Is that about a 20x40 foot pad? How deep do you need it to be? 4 inches thick and you're looking at about 10 cubic yards of material. That's doable, but it's going to take a lot of trips no matter what you do.

A reasonably good trailer will drive across that beach just fine, it's just going to bump around some. The ride will be smoother in the sprung 4x4 Suzuki than with a loaded tractor across those rocks. Neither will be fun. You can do it, though.

What I use around the house. Just about stays on this time of Yr. It's older and well made from Sears I believe I seen on it that I've had forever. I used it for moving Crush and Run. Esp. when I was building the House and Dr. the Tilt bed comes in real handy for dumping the gravel.

My uncle has the same one. Been outside for the last 20 yrs or so. Its bed is almost separated from the frame and has new wheels and rims! His is black though.

Perfect example they sure don't make things like they use to. My guess is over 30yrs. old clemsonfor. I doubt that the bed will ever wear out ;)
