Why can't you just remove the bucket?

From my original post: The Front End Loader is down on the ground (nothing attached).

The bucket is not attached.

Double tap.

Can't you just pull back the stick while it's cranking? The starter ought to have enough grunt to slowly move some oil thru the lines. Or is the motor stuck ?

I was thinking the same thing. Or has the OP thought about using a jack with control in float.

Uh, guys; very first sentence of post #1 - "My L5740 won't turn over."

Glad to see I'm not the ONLY one that misses stuff like that  ... Steve

Have you tried using a jack.

Yep. I jacked it a little way up and it seemed to hold for a while. If it comes down to having it towed, I'll probably use the other tractor's FEL to pick this one up a bit and/or just let the tow truck driver do the cable under the loader trick mentioned earler.

After putting the loader in float, I used the loader on the M7060 to raise it up and get some jack stands under it. I'll be making a couple of braces out of angle iron tomorrow. I'll strap them to the cylinder rods and then get the tractor taken in to the shop.

Thanks for all the advice.

You use correct terminology.
- - Some people use "turn over" or "crank over" as start, so it always has to be verified to be sure what is being described.

Thanks; in a few of my "past lives" I taught electronic equipment repair, re-wrote manuals on imported video equipment, did phone troubleshooting before resorting to expensive service calls, etc - it taught me to avoid sentences like "throw the horse over the fence - some hay" - my "smart-a**" side also wants to add that, in some steeper places on my land "not turning over" is a GOOD thing (more correctly, not overturning maybe??) ...
