Your tank is called a leg tank. You need bands for the tank or it won't hold it's shape if loaded for very long and will eventually crack. You need a band at each groove. Which looks like two. Plus they need to be bolted down or they will also spread. As they are usually made of galvanized pipe. Also it probably has a 2" outlet and a valve and a cam lock banjo fitting will set you up.

Where can these bands be purchased? I will have to make a level block foundation and then find a way to put a two by underneath it and bolt the bands onto that.

Rural King or TSC may have them. Or try this place Band for 425, 525, 725 and 1025 Gallon Horizontal Leg Tank - Bands - Horizontal Leg Tanks - Shop by Category or a local farm store may be able to help. I know local places but that doesn't help you. Be sure to measure your tank. The web site shows you what you need to measure.

The 2x needs to run a cross the tank (one 2x per band). And also needs to be well supported in the center not just edges. As a leg tank transfers all the weight of the liquid to the legs. A grid of 6x6's may be better. 3 on bottom then 2 under bands turned 90degrees.

Are we talking months, years, or decades for the tank to crack?

Hard to say. Depends on how much sun the tank has seen how hard it is and whether it was supported prior. If it was new I would give it a 5-8 year life span sitting in sun unsupported. Supported in sun 15-20 years would be my guess.

$80 is a little cheap for two to me. But call and ask. I was thinking 50-80 per band. You have to think new this tank is about a dollar a gallon. I know you don't have that in it but keep that in mind.

I thought $80 for two sounded light as well. I will see what I can find. I am not opposed to putting more money into it, but I just want to make sure the cost is with the benefit. I also plan to get some totes in the near future. Thanks.

Have you ever been going forwards and backwards on a tractor enough that you got used to flipping the paddle, and then gotten your car and tried to use your blinker to make your car go forward and reverse? Yeah, me neither.
