While mowing where i should not of been, I went off a drop off of about 18inches or so. The front wheels and mower did OK, but when the the rear wheels went down the drop, the weight box was forced up. Now it will not drop when lever is moved to the lowering position. There is about 600 lbs in the box. This is on a B2910 - 2003. Any way to SAFELY lower it before I start to look to see what is broken-jammed up? Any ideas what to look for? THANKS

Will it raise at all?

I suppose you did cycle the rock shaft lever (controls the 3PH) several times to see if it would work.

To remove the ballast box, I would park on an area as level as possible and use cinder blocks or something of that nature to chock under the box. I would use a floor jack (if you have one) to take the weight off the upper and lower links, then disconnect the upper link first. Then pull the lynch pins off the lower link pins. If you can't get the weight off the lower links, you may have to pry the links off.
The important thing is to do this safely, so leave yourself an avenue of escape. With the cinder blocks, the box shouldn't fall too much.
If you're lucky enough that the floor jack takes the weight off those links, obviously, you'll have to lower it on the blocks.

Once the weight box is off, pull your tractor away.

My opinion is that your see something, probably one or both of the lower links, bent.

Problem solved - I hope long term! I took off the raise lower control arm to see if I had broken off lever, it was OK, re-read maintenance book on hydralic troubles, everything seemed OK. Then read about lowering speed, turned the adjusting knob and everything came down nice and easy! Must have bumped it in the excitment of the drop off. Seems to be fine now. Out to finish the grass.

Check the small pins that hold the teloscopic lower link ends on the arms, the weight box might have been pushed to the side and caught on the lower arm.

I raised my carryall one time and it would not lower. One of the small pins caught on the carryall and would not let it lower. I had to push the carryall to side to clear the pin. Bent the pin a bit, I will need to cut if off and replace when I get some spare time. Scared me intially when it happened, I thought I did something to foul up the rear lift.

You used your manual to figure out a problem. I must admit, I'm surprised that did the trick though. And, I'll remember that if I ever have an incident like yours...
