Mulching kit for BX 2680

So, you BX owners, are you taking the kit off at certain times of the year? Is it doing a good job all seasons, or should I expect it to leave windrows in heavy grass? $400 cuts into a bagger or Cyclone Rake, so I'm trying to avoid eating the cost twice.

Sounds like that would be a pain in the arse and get old quickly!

We will keep in on all mowing season, if we have to mow a little often, it is better than sweeping the grass. Sometimes this year we have mowed after 5 days. We mow 10 acres with the bx and f2690 mowers, both with mulching kits on them. I would not take them off, to big of a pain in the a@@@@@@.

Well, I already knew the answer, but thought I'd better check.
Now, to figure if I should spend the $400 plus freight and try it, or just go with the bagger/rake I'll need in fall anyway.

What will you need the bagger/rake for this fall. I just mulch my leaves. I used a sweeper in the past, bought one 3 or 4 years ago, it just takes up space now. Good luck on whichever way you go.

I have three large sycamores and silver maples. The leaves are either so massive or thick, I can't mulch. It just kills my grass in spring.

I like that mulching puts the cut/nutrients back down rather than hauling it away.

I haven't raked leaves in over 20 years. I have lots of trees also. Try the mulcher on the leaves and maybe do a couple passes in different directions. Maybe even mow them every couple weeks during the dropping season. Maybe mow with deck a bit higher and then come back later and drop the deck down and chop them again. The mulcher will chop them to fine particles if it is working right and your BX2660 will have plenty of power to do it. Just keep in mind your chopping/mulching and not mowing grass so may need to slow down a bit in heaviest concentrations.
