Yeah, upon further review, in light of the economic conditions, that could be read as pretty funny. And I suppose if anyone has an answer for the question read that way as well, I would forward it along to the proper economic authorities. I have my own ideas, but it requires changing our whole tax system. Oh well.

Can anyone suggest a good economy reloading set?

I was at a range a few years back with a friend. Just shooting at bowling pins and having fun. A guy came over and asked if we "reloaded". My friend said "yes". Promptly opened up his revolver, released all the empty shell casings and "reloaded" with a box of commercial ammo.

That is my idea of reloading.:D

I called one of the larger gun stores in the area. They have a used glock 20 for $399. The guy said a decent reloading set starts at around $100. Hrmm....

I am thinking about getting a handgun in the next couple of months. I am looking for something that can be used for a carry gun, self defense, hunting, and leisure shooting. I am thinking that it would have to be at least .40 caliber if not .45. I am looking for something inexpensive, even if I have to find a nice used handgun. All suggestions will be appreciated.

Of all the guns I have and use, my SIG P-229 in .357 SIG pretty much does it all.

It is a great carry gun, has put down many wild hogs with one shot, never jams, and is very accurate.

It does have a much more terrific muzzle blast than my 9mms, but I reload all my shells and the SIG .357 takes the same bullets my 9mms do, which makes it economical to shoot.

I used to have one, didn't shoot it hardly at all so I sold it. Never should have done that.
I picked one up this morning, really clean used, for $399. Two high cap mags that my old one didn't have and a slip on grip.

Out of curiousity, how does the sig .357 ammo compare in cost to the 10mm rounds, off the shelf and reloaded? Thanks

For a quick comparison, I checked ableammo.com and found 10mm to be a couple bucks cheaper than 357sig using Federal American Eagle brand 50 round boxes.

If you do decide to go 10mm and you don't like the Glock, you can always get a Dan Wesson 1911 in 10mm or a used Smith and Wesson. I have a Glock 20, but my favorite 10mm is a S&W 1006.

Between the S&W 1006, SigSauer P232/229, Glock 20/29 - which is the simplest mechanism and the easiest to maintain?

Glock. The plastic fantastic has built a reputation on being simplistic and boringly reliable. Fewer parts and a very tough finish.
