Hmm, I always wondered where these came from...

Soooo the fly was dead and had spoiled or otherwise grew mold. My guess is that the mold will spread to any other insects on the strip as the spores drop. I would take steps to make sure those spores don't make it to the salad bowl or any other uncooked food. You may want to dispense with that strip.

I suspect the fly was infected before he got caught and probably didn't have long to live in any case. I know he wasn't there a couple of hours before I first saw him and he never got any fuzzier with the fungus before I tossed the sticky strip out the next day.
