mx8 or mx 6 on a 4710

Doesn't look too bad until you get to the side view! That's one big cutter. Glad to hear you've got the power that was needed. Good looking rig.

I just mowed one of our pastures, about 3 acres, and it was about 4 foot tall full of grass. I mowed at about half way down on the hydro pedal, so probably about 4mph, and didnt have an rpm drop. This mower is an animal.

Nice looking outfit. What size are the front weights? Are they 42 or 70 lb.

Those are 42 lb weights. I had them from a 318 I had, and they work great on the front of the 4710.

I have 4700 HST with MX6. The MX6 is slightly wider than my wheels and works good for manuvering around trees in my orange grove. I throttle back to about 1,000 rpm (engine) when I engage the pto. This keeps the slip clutch from slipping. I normally mow with 430 FEL in place with a fork lift head on.

The shot of your tractor with the MX8 on back rang a bell - I checked the copy of the old tape JD did to compare the (then new) 4000 series vs. NH and Kubota. Sure enough, there are at least two scenes where a 4700 comes cruising by with an MX8 attached. I think you'll be fine.

I am buying a mx8 but I can not decide between a semi-mount and a pull-type.

I will be pulling it with a new john deere 4720 with 400cx loader.

Just one question about the semi-mount. How do you raise it up? How do you keep the deck level while you are using it?
