There's got to be more to this story.

Kubota Canada's limited warranty covers manufacturing defects... obviously all that corrosion wasn't a defect in manufacturing, and it expressly excludes:
"2. Depreciation, damage, malfunction caused by
normal wear, lack of reasonable and proper
maintenance, improper servicing, failure to follow
operating instructions, misuse, lack of proper
protection during storage
3. Depreciation or damage caused by accident...
10. Damage resulting from a natural calamity beyond
human control such as: fire, flood, etc."

I would say none of those 3 terms apply. These things were noticed within the first 24 hours of ownership, so wear and depreciation are certainly not the cause. There's no maintenance involved yet. This was obviously not an accident because again, there's no physical damage (we're told) and in 24 hours. And finally, natural calamity. It may have been in one, but not during the OP's ownership time.

It may be too late now since the tractor is back at the dealer but I would like to know when it was made. I'm sure Kubota will never tell you but they would also know the tractor's history, which dealer it went to when it left the factory and when. If it was swapped from one dealer to another Kubota would most likely know this as well.

Why are we still flogging this topic.

Simple, either this is too much for you and you return it....

Or you keep it.

How many hours on it?

Ok.. for clarification as I read it.

OP bought tractor..

Tractor was loaded on trailer for delivery..

Op received tractor and noticed the corrosion right away. Contacted Dealer.

Dealer wire brushed and oil sprayed tractor, told OP that all the will do.

OP has tractor returned, but still unsatisfied..

Where exactly do you stand now since you returned it? Are they getting you another tractor?

I have heard multiple vendors complain about modern paint systems and the impact the EPA has had on them being able to deliver what they would like.

I really think that is a vendor and manufacturer cop out..blaming the EPA. The fact is tractor manufacturers are using cheap, thin paint across the board (excpet maybe John Deere). .. I don't see Mercedes or Lexus blaming the EPA and they don't have paint issues because they ARE using quality paint. I see brand new JD' that have sat out on the lot for a year and their chassis paint is still glossy and rust free while NH, Mahindra, Kioti etc are dull and you can see rust popping through.

I bought my NH new and there was areas on the frame where there was no paint or very little (dry paint) as it's called in the business. I keep my tractor in a temp controlled garage 24/7, tractor has never been out in the rain since April 2007 and I still have problems with rust poking through on the cast paint areas.

Tractors are tractors and automobiles are automobiles.

The problem with automotive paint came years ago when EPA demanded that manufacturers move away from solvent based paint. Who hasn't seen a 1995 Ford Tarus with cooked paint on flat surfaces? Technology and chemistry has sorted all of this out and automotive paints are quite good now.

Tractor paint is intended to provide two roles.
#1 Nominally protect base metals from corrosion.
#2 Make it look purty in its manufacturer's livery.

Tractors are comprised of sheet metal body parts, carbon steel fabricated structural parts, some aluminum here and there, plastic and iron castings. The plastic is all UV resistant and quite good. The sheet metal is all undercoated and other than a dulling finish, is durable. The carbon steel components, FEL, etc. are robust and not likely to rust out. Cast Iron is like your grandma's skillet, the housing will be there long after the guts are worn out.

Tractors are tools, not Sunday afternoon, go to town rides. Ignore paint issues or get out a rattle can, if it makes you feel better. But, grease all the rotating pins every ten hours, check your radiator screen frequently, change oil and oil filter according to hour recommendation or once a year, service your fuel filter(s), treat your air intake system as a breath of life and follow all the recommendations for other service in your owner's manual, to the Tee.

At the risk of repeating myself, the OP's new tractor was unacceptable, just because. Other than that, paint is like lipstick. Service your machine properly and, ugly or not, she will last and last.

I keep my tractor outside in the elements at 17 degrees North of the Equator with more than sufficient salt borne atmosphere and and enough UV to cook any visitor from the frozen North. My only problem around here is with electronics connected to the power grid, prince of darkness. My tractor doesn't give a whiff but I envy your air condition garage. Got a view and I'm on my way....

To me, that's also 2 strikes with the dealer. One, to sell the tractor like that....UNLESS there was a serious discount. And full disclosure why it looked like that. Second strike was to wirewheel some metal, and spray oil on it?? Really??
As others have said, there much more to the story here than we know. Need more info from the OP.
And to say that's acceptable....? I think not. It's got issues now as a new machine, think of what will happen at time goes on.....and when the warranty ends...

Unless the OP knew about the corrosion and the purchase price was signifigantly reduced, I would get rid of that thing ASAP.

Ditto to what he said.

I PM'ed the OP a while back, and he replied that he was on a long work stint and would get back when he could, and he did. I suspect he will get back to the thread again as time permits.
It is my understanding that the disposition of the tractor with the selling dealer and Kubota is a yet to be determined situation. Somewhat of a standstill until we receive updated information from the OP.
