After building a few workbenches. I've come to realize less is better. 2 feet wide and 2X4's for legs are plenty.

Shelves are also a real space saver.

I've come to appreciate open shelves with a very simple design. You wouldn't believe how much wood I used to use on shelve building.

These are one foot wide and 16 feet long.

The bed you built in your container home, Did you have plans for it or did you just use your imagination. I thought it was a pretty cool design. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've seen containers built onto before, but not exactly like I did. I drew a plan on my computer, then penciled in ideas after printing it.

It sits on about 4 inches of base rock with 2 4X6 PT posts in the front framing the door, and three in the back. The side walls are the containers.

I don't really have anything to add to this, other then I thought I would share a couple of pictures of a container barn that they started/built about the same time you did yours. I remember thinking, I've never heard of anyone doing this when I read yours post. And low and behold there was one being built before my very eyes. I wanted to get some pictures of the construction, but between forgetting my camera and the time I was going to and from work it didn't work out. I did manage to get a couple of shots a couple of weeks ago.

It looks like it is 4 containers long and 2 containers high or a total of 16 containers.

Getting something like that zoned & permitted must have been 'interesting' to say the least! Somewhere an engineer would have made a lot working out a stamp of appoval.

That thing is amazing!

I've seen them used as offices quite often, and maybe that's the idea with all of the ones they are useing. I cant imagine what elese they would be for. The ends are blocked off by each other and the second story is impossible to get to unless they add stairs someplace, wich means light loads going up an down the stairs.
