My MIL had one of her knee replacements get infected, it is a long road but keep your head up and we will all be praying for you.

You'll find uses for that boom pole that you may not know existed. I had a skid steer quick attach plate welded to mine for use with the Bobcat.

souNdguy: Thanks!, and we're not 100% sure since I was absolutely completely fine, and then I suddenly wasn't, but even when the surgery is completely healed, infection can seed into the interface between the metal implant's surfaces and the living bone tissue because it is theoretically a "dead" space where your (my) immune system cannot prevent it. Thanks for asking.

Mr. freund: Thanks, has your MIL fully recovered? How is her knee? I appreciate the encouragement, and we're trying to remember to take it one day at a time. Thanks again!

JJZ: I'm already planning/imagining many, but I hope you're right. Any specific uses you found? At least it isn't winter..... this time of year is a lot less depressing to sit around here. A good wife, RN or not, is truly a blessing, and adding the RN is icing on top. Thanks for the kind words.

Folks with artificial joints have to be especially careful getting dental work done as well. To the point of taking antibiotics for a couple weeks before having any work done. The dental work can really spread the infection through your body. Crazy and scary!

C reactive protein is the gold standard for testing infection level in the blood stream. I had it done before removal/replacement of a broken front tooth that had several root canals prior to the decision to replace it with an inplant. This way I could determine if the baseline level of infection dropped after the implant replaced the old tooth. Additionally, and most important, for anyone with heart related disease or increased risk for same due to family history, etc., dental infection has been shown to be a possible cause of heart attack; case specific, of course.

Anyway, to the OP, hope your knee stabilizes, and a full recovery is imminent.
And, FWIW, I think adding a QA would be awesome for the boom pole.

Had a boom pole like yours, worked well for most lifting and pulling we have to do around the farm. I am currently looking for a much heavier one after turning ours into a horse shoe with the 5083e. The pole would handle 800-1000 lbs well , just could not take lifting neighbors Nissan pickup out of a ditch.
