My dealer advised against SUDT

Am I alone in thinking that bulldog69 may just be an Amsoil distributor? ;)

Almost afraid to try and quote anybody after my last incounter with a quote. You may be correct in assuming that I am a Amsoil dealer. I just buy for myself though. Most people don't want to hear how Amsoil can save them money.

I gladly keep the $500 (on average, depending on current fuel prices) in my pocket that I save every 10,000 miles because of the added MPG.

I can't change your mind about the oil you believe in just like you can't change mine.:D

If you already know what the MM says and know what it means what was your reason for quoting me?

Simple, because you don't know what the MM Act means and this quote of yours proves it, although who knows what you mean by 'type'.

A manufacture by law can't require you to run a certain type of oil unless they supply it to you free of charge.

Weight? Yes, a manufacturer can require this.
API Rating? Yes, a manufacturer can require this.

Your second post since joining is in a thread that's been inactive for 4.5 years. For what purpose? To start a tired, old argument about Amsoil. A topic that's been beaten to death on this site. I use Amsoil, but I don't feel the need to proselytize others to use it. 'Amsoil Moonies' give it a bad name. Next thing they'll be standing in airports handing out little sample bottles while chanting about low temp flow characteristics. It's enough to make me switch. :(

The first reguarding "type" was a bad choice of words on my part. My mistake. Brand may have been a better choice instead of type. I fully agree with you on the weight issue though. The oil, lube or ect. certainly must meet or exceed the manufactures requirments to qualify.

My second post was a failure on my part to pay attention to the date of the thread.
Again I will have to agree with you about most who talk about Amsoil products. A lot of them will talk just to get a rise out of someone just so they can argue about who has the best lubricant.
I don't try to sell it even though I am a dealer. It's a rare occation to ever change a mans opinion about his oil. Most people use what their dad and granddad used and think there is nothing better. If you're happy with whatt you use that's great. I hope it works for them from now own. I know what works for me and the benefits I recieve from it and that is all I care about.

There are legal issues with regard to the MM Act, and I am NOT a lawyer....

Generally, the MM Act is interpreted to mean basically two things at the consumer level with regard to warranty coverage:

1) No OEM can REQUIRE the use of house-branded "service parts" (lube, filters, plugs etc) in order to maintain your warranty coverage.

2) A warrantable component failure on a MODIFIED vehicle must be covered until and unless the OEM can "prove" that the modification CAUSED the failure. Tuners, you are running out of time on this one.
