Skyco I don't think that is correct. They certainly can require a certain type of oil...they can't require one use only [I said:
their[/I] oil without supplying it free of charge.
Many, many require certain types of oil for warranty.

Look up the "Magnuson-Moss Act of 75". It was put in place from what I can gather to give consumers a leg to stand on legally. It covers a lot of different points. It's a lot of serious words that gave me a head ache.
It made it so we could do a lot of thing to our personal vehicles. It must be the proper part, installed correctly, rated for that app, yadayadayada. I think you see where they are going.
Without it any type of modification we did all the manufacture would have to do is say "It's not covered under your warranty now, It's been modified"

No more tuners for our trucks, aftermarket filter systems, the brand of oil you want to run synthetic or not. Without that law we wouldn't be able to choose anything for ourself.

Don't take my word on it. Look it up, I did.

Manufacturers can and do require a certain weight and API level for oil, e.g., 5w-30, API CD. The MM act has nothing to do with this requirement. The MM act has nothing to do with tuners, either.

No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his writen or implied warranty of such product on the consumer using, in connection with such products, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subjection may be waived by the commission if

1 the warrantor satisfies the commission that the warranted product will funtion properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and

2 the commission finds such waiver is in the public interest.

Magnuson-Moss act of 1975
United States Code: Title 15.2302 section (C) Rules governing contents of warranties

In every day country boy words; Kubota can't make you use Kubota oil in your Kubota tractor Unless they give it to you for Free.

As long as your Amsoil, Mobil, Rotella or whatever you brand you like meets Kubota requirements, they can't do squat.

This will change only if;
Kubota can prove that your tractor can only run using Kubota oil, or

If the use of Kubota oil is in the publics best interest.

Like I said before; this covers a wide range of products.
If you want to use a Fram air filter in your Ford truck, this law is what keeps Ford from saying your warranty will be void if you do.
If you want to use a Superchip Tuner on your Ford diesel; This is what will keep Ford from saying that they have their own line of performance products and if you use a Superchip your warranty will be void. And so on and so forth.

As I said before;
Don't take my word for it, look it up for yourself. I did

Agree with the above, with this one big caveat.

Put a Fram oil filter on your Kubota and it splits, collapses, etc, you have to get Fram to replace your engine. Whether they would be hard to work with on such a thing, I would have no idea.

Have a Kubota oil filter split or collapse during warranty and Kubota will stand behind it. End of story.

Are the Hastings, Frams, or NAPAs of the world as easy to get satisfaction from, in the case of catastrophic failure? I can only hope so, but cannot say with certainty.

Am I alone in thinking that bulldog69 may just be an Amsoil distributor? ;)

Man, these stuff never ends!!!!...I can remember this stuff getting hashed out in late 2002 here..

People, they will pull a UOA to prove you had whatever oil in the engine...Till the next time...:confused2::confused2::confused2::confused2:

And how many issues are from the above filters etc? On this forum I read 1 person that said this and that and posted ZERO....

I did not buy Kubota filters (except a hyd due to no others out there)..Kubota is nothing special..Pull it apart and look at it...It is about inline with SuperTec.

Actually, a SuperTech is likely as good or better. I personally like Hasting. Great filter, and readily available at a good price. I sleep well.

No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his writen ...

And you quoted what I posted and parts of the MM for what purpose? I know what it says and I know what it means.

The MM act has nothing to do with tuners, either.

To answer your question in the first quote, I have looked several times and I didn't see anything that made me believe that you were unquotable. I will go back and look again though.

The statement you made in the first quote after your question is why I am going to ask you this question.

If you already know what the MM says and know what it means what was your reason for quoting me?

The 7th word in the attached file is the reason for the second quote.
