Johanah had surgery on her arm today. They put a plate on her upper left arm. The doctor told us everything went well.

Drew has been moved again into another stepdown room. He is doing great. He does have a little infection in the cut on his butt. Actually this is his biggest scar. I can just see him telling folks about his accident and then saying want to see my scar. No he won't he is a really a shy boy.

Joy again made great stride. She was sitting up on the side of her bed today for a few minutes. The doctors are well pleased with her response. She is still on the venitalor. The doctor said we need to wean her off of this. He is considering moving her to a Specalist Hospital, I never heard of one but one is in Nashville. They only work with acute patients. She is trying real hard to get out of the Trauma unit.

Thanks for the prayer. It is working.

God bless you, I am so tired I actually came home early from the hospital I need to get a good nights rest.

sounds mostly positive......

sorry to be nosey, but do you have decent health coverage? i know it may not sound appropriate to ask, but something like this can really burden a family.....

My daughter and I both work at the same ministry and and both families are covered by the same insurance plan, which is Aetna. I called our insurance rep the other day and was told we have unlimited coverages with very little co-pays.

I was concerned about this also. But God is wonderful He saw this coming years ago and lead our leadership at the Mission into getting good insurance.

Thanks for asking.

Don

PS Writing about off of this on here is helping me. I have some times each day when I can't see my family it gives me something to do.

I'm non-religious but will certainly be wishing your family the best possible healing. My father and I were hit head on by a drunk driver in an SUV about 3 years ago. He ruptured his spleen and bowel and broke a mess of ribs, I popped a lung and some ribs.

Its a long road to recovery but it is worth it, I finally now have no shoulder pain and my dad is slowly getting back to being active again. They had to do the surgery as emergency so they slit him from groin to rib cage to find the bleeding and what was burst. The damage to his stomach muscles led to a lot of mobility issues but he can ride his bike again and do some lifting.

The spleen means some shots will be needed and sometimes it will take more time to get well after getting sick but nothing serious.

Get lots of sleep when you can, my wife had a hard time sleeping in the hospital and it was very hard on her mental state.

Today things went OK. Joy is doing really well. They did tell me her white blood cells were 53,000 and should be between 5,000 and 15,000. The doctor told me infection has set in someplace. The did a broncalscope (sp) to see in her lungs. They found some crude and are presently doing test on it to see what antibiotics to use. She was moved into a step-down room though.

Drew has some infection in his wound on his butt. The poor boy also has poison Ivy from being in the weeds the night of the accident. He is scratching something awful. He is eating regular food. They told us today he will probably be in the hospital another 5 or 6 days then move to a rehab for a short time. He will be bed ridden about 12 weeks after he gets home because of his cracked pelvis.

Jean is doing really well. She is actually planning to return to work Monday July 21st. She has decided to save her sick time to care for the kids when they get home from the hospital.

Johanah is starting to have bad dreams or something like that. Last night her mom stayed in her room. This morning Johanah woke up crying and asked Jean to pick her leg up off the ground. The nurse and Jean both told Johanah her leg was attached and not on the ground, she didn稚 believe them. They lifted her leg enough so she could see it. She asked them when they put it back on. Then she told them she couldn稚 feel it. This after noon she asked me if her grandmother, my wife, was dead. She is blaming everyone for the accident. Today she told Jean it was her fault. Yesterday it was Tony痴. Jean is planning to have a counselor see both of the kids soon.

Please continue to pray for everyone.

God bless you,

Don

Don,

My prayers continue for your family. Thank you for continuing to update us on their progress. I'm thankful that you have good insurance that will pay for the treatment everyone needs, it sounds like a long road to recovery. Your sharing helps me to remember the many blessings my family has received and to keep my own measly 'problems' in perspective. May god continue to uphold, support and heal your family, and may you all know God's peace throghout the days, months and years ahead.

Pull together and you guys will pull through, but it will be a long pull.

Let us know if we can be of any assistance besides prayer.
