I've always thought that you should never mix tape and dope. One or the other. I spend a little extra for the better tape, which has always worked for me.

I forget what your fittings look like. Did you use brass fitting for all your threaded fittings?

They are all brass except the kitchen faucet (I think it is stainless).

We had plans to work on the house tonight but the tractor had a flat tire. We broke the seal on the front tire. We used a ratchet strap and finally got it to reseal. Unfortunately when I was taking the strap off I managed to punch myself in the face. The battery had died and I did t capture it. I am a little disappointed because I am not exactly sure what happened. I had constricted the tire and then put air innit. Then couldn’t get the buckle open and used two hands and I guess the tire sort of ballooned out to it’s normal circumference and threw the buckle in my face. At first I thought my nose was broken but there was very little blood. It is swollen but not too bad. I called my nephew who is a paramedic and after talking to him decided to skip the ER. If I still feel like crap in the morning I will re-evaluate. I think I was lucky.

There is an easier way....

Get well soon!
People freak out over using a flammable. But as the OP discovered, there are hazards to using a rachet strap that are far worse.

That's scary. Guess it could have been worse. Hopefully it will just bruise a little and heal quickly.

OUCH ! You were lucky but the man upstairs knows you are on a deadline to get the house ready for drywall !

I have to much respect for tire air pressures to take chances. Working on commercial and military aircraft for 30+ yrs. you just didn't take the chance of something whipping you !!!

Now back to your build David !!

I've never owned a ratchet strap that was easy to loosen.
