My Industrial Cabin Build

I watched your video last night where you show some of the work your tapers is doing on your sheetrock. In the last couple of decades of doing remodels, new home builds and additions, I've never seen it done like what they are doing on your house. Most pros can do an entire house in a day. It's not even a long day for them. I can't imagine why it would take them more then a day to do yours. I've also never seen it done in such a sloppy, ragged and amateurish manner.

I hope I'm wrong on this, and you really need to video them in action to know for sure. Something isn't right with what they are doing.

What type of finish are you going to have on your walls?

Another excellent video. The drywall guys will appreciate the throne also.
I really gotta look into pex A. I have an outside faucet I took off when I built the garage and never put back, need to get it installed again sometime, but haven’t missed it too much in last 20 years it’s been gone. Would save some hose wrangling.

That tool is pretty pricy though, guess I’ll fire up the torch.

For just a few small jobs, I wouldn’t be able to justify it, but for the whole house , it was easy to sell myself on it. There will be plumbing in the barn too, if I get my way.

Around here smooth finish is about all you see in new homes.

It takes a very good finisher to get smooth finish sheetrock "smooth" with no evidence of seams. Very good.

In all fairness. I don’t take much notice of the finish on walls. I notice if I can see the joints. I am staring at the wall in the house we rent. It looks pretty smooth to me. Is there a slight orange peel to it? Maybe. It could be that it was built in 1963 and has multiple coats of paint.

Is that your expectation on your new house? Your wife's?

If the walls look as good as the rental, I will be very happy. I have not been in a house built in the last 20 years that comes close to the quality you got in houses from the 1960’s. In most new construction, half million dollar homes, they skim in the morning and come back to do a second coat thAt night.
