This weekend was spent backfilling against the foundation. I should have done it a long time ago.

It takes a heck of a lot longer than I thought.

If you haven't figured it out yet, you will - EVERYTHING takes longer than you thought it would. Thus says the guy going on year 6.5 of building his own house...

Just keep on plugging away!

My wife went up there yesterday and put some seed on the new soil.

Do you have a time limit for your permit? We get a yr.

When I built in 97 the bank gave me 6 months. I got 2 extensions and got it done in 9 months. I worked almost 20 hrs a day the last couple weeks, the bank said no more extensions. I moved in this time of year, 22 yrs ago.

I'm really confused. You stopped all framing and now you are working on landscaping? Do you get winter there?

I don’t know what went wrong there.

She put in grass seed to try to keep the soil from eroding.

I figured.... just thought you might get a laugh out of it. Sometimes I send something to my wife or kids and they reply "WHAT?" And I look at what I sent and it's something about a giraffe at the 2% milk.

Framing stopped because I am waiting for my SIPS panels to be made and delivered. Those are my exterior walls. Joists tie in the the rear SIPS panes. Tuen the rafters will be built and the roof panels will be installed. The SIPS walls sit on the exterior block and the roof sits on top of them. That is a lot of weight And I want the walls to be backfilled to make the foundation more stable and strong. I have been working with the SIPS company this week to finalize a few issues that we identified. They also had a solution for my j-bolt issue.

The building permit is good. So far I have not had to involve any banks for the build. I will but that will come after I have a roof on.
