Picked up a KK Middle Buster yesterday at TSC and it works great! Got a couple pics for you to look at. Will be making a modification on the top link connection point on the impliment so it will go deeper than 9 inches. The nose levels out at that depth. As you can see I don't have rocks.

That's what I would like to know as well. Plus, how much bite was each pass and what size is your tractor? (okay, call me blind, just saw you have a 750 )

1st pass about 7 inches
2nd and 3rd pass about 1 inch each (due to cutting point leveling out)
You are looking at about a 10 inch deep ditch

After my mod this week end I think I'll be able to get 14 inches in 2 passes. Will let you know and will have pics.

Well here are pictures of the mod. Did a little more than the top link change. Also decided to add a little weight to it. Take the front end weights and hang them on the back.. As for depth, I can get 12 inches now. Draft arms just about bottomed out.

MFrost, can you be a little more specific on your mods. I have the exact same buster and I like the mods you did. What size steel did you use? how high did you raise the top hole? how does your weight hanger work? what does the pin catch on, on the piece of RR steel? You did a nice job there and some slick looking welds, not your first time obviously. Thanks in advance.

Thats a good idea.
I added about 400# to my box blade and it really makes a difference for the better.

top link bracket is 1/2" x 6" plate with pin hole 2 1/4" higher and 4 1/2" farther back than stock.

Weight hanger is piece of concrete stake with 3/8" rebar welded to the end so the weight will not fall off in the ditch Hope this helps

Picked up a guart of JD green when I got the buster. Usually wait a couple weeks after I do a mod because I usually think of something else to do to it. Maybe a cup holder will finish it off.

That is a nice modification to a great tool. Unfortunately here in New England, we have too many rocks that would make the front end of the tractor stand up on end.

If I could lift those weights I wouldn,t need a stinking tractor.Seriously great job...Could you please explain how adding to the top link lets it dig deeper?It seems that depth is limited by the lower links.I tried to figure it out but I think my brain is fried from the "will it fly" thread.

Looks like we have a bunch of California guys on this thread. I lived in Antioch CA for around 30 years, (the arm pit of the Delta). Retired in Michigan where land is affordable and your neighbors are far enough away that you can throw a rock in any direction and not hit a house from your property line. Still have a ton of family in the Sacramento area.
I love the sub soiler mods. I have the same TSC sub soiler and have been racking my brains on how to get a little more depth out of it.
