My little Golden buddy passed away Fri Night

So sorry to hear of your loss. We have recently become Golden lovers with our 6 mo. old Bailey. Although still just a pup, he has quickly become a cherished member of our family. We just put down a 15 year old Pomerian a month ago, so we know what you are going through.

Dang it Garry, you made me cry again. We received a copy of the poem in the mail from our vet shortly after we had to have our dog put to sleep. We formed a close friendship with our vet as our dog had a number of problems over the years, but the vet kept her active and healthy until about 6 months ago. We sort of hoped she would die peacefully in her sleep. But it was not to be. As much as we dreaded the process, our vet was very compassionate and made the whole thing surprising bearable. The calmness and peacefullness of the process was comforting to us all. The vet and her assistant both had tears rolling down their cheeks also. That helped, feeling that they were truly interested in their patients. Now I am sitting here with tears in my eyes again as I write this.

We have had our Golden over 11 years now. He is almost totally blind, has had operations on both knees (ACL tears), and has more and more problems with digestion. But his tail still wags when he gets attention, he never refuses to greet us when we return home, and has more good friends than I do. I dread the day we have to let him go, but it will happen, too. So sorry to hear of your loss; it strikes home for others like myself who count dogs on our best-liked lists.

Aah, yes, Kyle. I think many of us know the feeling and can certainly sympathize with you. I was talking to a cousin yesterday who has a Lab that's 16 years old, and of course he's had her since she was weaned, and the poor dog is in sad shape with arthritis among other things, but he just can't bring himself to have her put down.

Sorry to hear that Kyle. At least he is on Rainbow Ridge! I lost 4 dogs with 1 year and now have 3 left. It sucks losing a part of the family!

It was very nice of your daddy to help you type me a kind note. Austey dog had a bunch of girls about your age who loved him. Your daddy is a lucky man to have a daughter with such kindness.
