As evidenced by the posts in this thread, burning regulations differ across and within states. For example, NC has state-level statutes governing outdoor burning. Some counties and municipalities within the state impose additional regulations.

Years ago, gracious, maybe ten years back, :confused3::shocked:, my drive to and from work took me through what HAD been a rural area. However, huge developments had moved into the area and hundreds of acres of land was being cleared to grow houses, town houses and apartments. One morning I stopped at an intersection and there were huge burn piles on one side of the road which is in one county that follows state regulations. The other side of the road was in a different county with its own regulations that banned burning and required chipping. So, one side of the road had huge burn piles going while the other side of the road had tub grinders grinding away.:laughing::laughing: I really wish I had had a camera.
