Well she has arrived...actually a little over a week ago but just got around to taking pictures. It was suppose to arrive this past week but last weekend (April 3rd) I got a call from the dealer (Messicks) around 10:30 or so that it was ready. Great news!!!...only we can't deliver it. And we close at noon. Huh...ok so I called a buddy of mine that I work with to see if his trailer was available. It was and off I go. I get up to the dealer around 11:30 or so, did some paperwork, nickel tour and away I was.

Got home, unloaded it, dam...no fuel. Should have checked before I left so I could have stopped on the way home. Go out, buy fuel, came home and cut the grass. I was done in a little under two hours. I was a little disappointed that I was done in just under two hours...kinda thought about mowing it again but I just moved here and didn't want the neighbors to think I was obsessed. Pulled out an old stump and that was it. Off to the Dominican Republic for a week. I know...worse places to go for work.

The next part is a little long and I mentioned it already in somebody else's thread but if anybody is thinking about a tractor, this is my story:

My wife and I just moved to up to our current place in Lancaster PA, from VA, that has a little over 3 acres. It came with a tired old MTD that was about done. When we first put a contract on the house I knew that little thing would not due so I started to look at the used box store tractors...the larger 54" cut Cubs and Deeres - ($1.5 - 2k). Then I figured I should get a new one as it's really not that much more and I'd rather just have new ($2.5 - 3k).

My brother also moved into a house with a larger lot and he bought a new x300 about 6 weeks or so ago. I guess he was telling the sales guy about my new place and situation and they tried to talk me into a new x500 ($5.5k). Not a bad idea...much nicer than the box shop jobs. But then I figured for just $2-3k more than the x500 I could get a nice used BX that would do a lot more ($7 - 9k). The search began. I called, replied to ads, looked a lot of places and I was not having very much luck finding anything used that suited.

Fine...I'll just get a new one...they seem to hold their value pretty well ($12 - 13k) I thought...quotes came back just shy of 14k (BX2360). Oh well...what's another $1 - 2k. March rolls around and I hear they have 0% financing for 60 months and no cash discount? Well...if I'm going to spend that much let me jump up to a B series because it will do more and we may end up moving to some place with a little bigger piece of property. So I ended up ordering (none on the lot) a B2320 for what a lot of people spend on cars. Considered calling back and going with the 2620 they had in stock but where does it stop? So far I'm happy with my B2320 and I think it will do everything I need it to.

Congrats!!!! That is one terrific looking tractor. I do not believe you will have a moment's regret getting exactly what you did. Perfect.

I think that will make a great tractor! Fill us in on how you like the mower, and mowing with it. Any trouble with the r-4's and mowing? Let us know when you take the deck off, and replace it too. ..... :D Don't have many wants, do we?

Re: price and car comment - my better half reminds me about this all the time - she is having to wait for her sports car - of course the tractor came first - have to cut the grass and that can't wait :)

re: where does it stop - According to the Kubota website - M135X - mind you that may be a little hard on your grass :) :)

Congrats and keep us posted when you upgrade next year!

THAT...is one nice machine...gorgeous. No, you can't go wrong getting more than you need. I could use a B series, really, but I wanted the backhoe, and...well, as you put it: "Where does it stop?":D

"I was a little disappointed that I was done in just under two hours...kinda thought about mowing it again but I just moved here and didn't want the neighbors to think I was obsessed.":laughing:

Really, a Kubota owner, obsessed?? Nooooo...;)

Great looking machine ! Enjoy it. And, thanks for using the "obsessed" word. I thought I was the only one.

Looks like you got a perfect fit for your lot size and the chores you have to accomplish.

Thats to bad your dealer didn't fill it up for you before he let you take it home......

Congratulations on your new tractor and the answer is, it never really stops.

Congratulations! As I've said before, you have to visit your neighbors when you see them out mowing. You have to ride your tractor over and chit chat about something irrelivant, maybe the weather or a ball game. If you have a ditch be sure and drive it across the ditch, not on the street. Theirs will run on the street but they can't drive through ditches.:) Bummer on the not filled with fuel.

Couple quick comments:

1. The R4's were a little rough on the ground when I first got the tractor home. Then I took the loader off and they have been fine. If I would have known about the bar/turf option, I think I may have gone that route. The turf/R4 dilema was one of the most deliberated choices of recent time for me.

2. On the first day I forgot to mention that I took all the stupid "lawyer" stickers off the tractor. I think they look ridiculous and I wanted to get them off while it was still easy and there was no fading. There were two stickers, one on the deck and one on the fender that are a little different and did not come off easy so they are still on for the time being.

3. I haven't removed the deck yet...only plan to once a year when the mowing season is over. I'll clean it, change the oil and then try to hang it up in the barn till the spring.

Congratulations on your new tractor. Did you need any solvent to get the stickers off or did they just peel off? I've also taken a couple off my tractor, they didn't come easy. I hope your dog is just taking a stroll past your tractor in the picture.

No solvent...most just came right off. Like I said there were a couple that didn't want to just peel right off so I left those on there for now.

Dog is trying to get off. I kept trying to get a picture of her on there but she doesn't like the tractor...oh well.

It's ok to go down a slippery slope while tractor shopping...just be sure to stay off them after you've bought one! :D

You would have thought the dealer would have filled the fuel tank on your new Kubota:mad:

Congratulation on your new tractor! I live not far from you in Landenberg, PA (Chester Co.) and have dealt with Messick's. They are good people. I bet that the lack of fuel was an oversight since you picked it up close to closing time. Enjoy your new machine. - Mike
