My New B2601

I have some questions for you MXBX. I have the BX2660 and use it for mowing, snow blowing, and FEL. I noticed at the dealership the 2601 1 peice hood could not be raised with the brush guard on the front?? Wrong guard? True or False Does the drive over deck work good compared to crawling around unhooking the old way. I'm really considering the 2601, but want to make sure i'm not getting to clumsy compared to the BX2660. Turning radius with brake of without brake. I was constantly taking the FEL off and on and wondered if i could just avoid all of the that with the quick-tach loader. I was using the R4 tire but see you are using the turf, which is maybe a better choice with weight between BX and B. Appreciate your thoughts!

Something isn't right with the unit you saw if that's the case. All the new Kubotas with the one-piece hood/grille raise just fine behind the guard that gets installed with the front loader package.

That's what i thought, the brush guard was bolted to the frame without a release. You could not check oil without removing 4 bolts and the brush guard! Very handy! I would still take it over a Deere

I was looking at a new L2501 on the lot with a FEL.It had a hinged grill guard.

The mounting system to attach the the looks extremely close to system on my B2920. About 5 to remove the deck, and about 7 to put it on. Taking on and off the deck is super easy. The quality of cut...? Outstanding, if the deck is adjusted correctly. I have the RCK-60-29B deck, and it is an extremely well built deck. The price of the MMM directly reflects what your money pays for.

I am considering the B2601 and was curious how the tractor "felt" when mowing slopes and hills? Did the center of gravity force you to go up and down or did it feel like it would hold onto the slope and you could go across?

I haven't been using my B26 long enough to give an honest answer on how safe it is going crossways on slopes. The roads I mow vary from 5 to 20 degrees. I felt uncomfortable crossing 15 degree slopes. Since then I put on 2.5 inch rear spacers and it feels a whole lot better but I go slow and easy until I can gain more confidence. I have been mowing with the FEL on which I understand is a no no but I'm getting by, also little to no ballast, except for the filled tires. The other day I did some side hill work with 400 lbs. rear ballast and that felt even better. So I'm getting there.

if its not as stable as you would like, there are factory approved wheel spacers for the B-series.

Well, I have pretty much made up my mind that I will not be buying the BX25D-1 as it is just too small for my 6'4" 400lbs as well as having been used to all the comfort my "L" I had combined with the issues many of you related with your BX25D's. I thank you all for your information and comments.

I will be searching for a B2301/2320 or B2601/2620 with FEL, Quick Attach: Bucket, Pallet Forks, and Straight Blade w/Hydraulic Angle, MMM, and BH w/Thumb. I have a JD dealer less than a mile from my house but not overly impressed with them and their price tags. Would consider Mahindra but closest dealer is over 30 miles away. Same for Kioti. I have 3 Kubota dealers with a 20 mile radius 1 of which is about 10 miles away.

Just got back from one of local Kubota Dealers and let me say that I was more than a little LESS impressed with the B - Series tractors. The operator platform and fender flexed on every one I got on and felt very cheap ... I've sat on less expensive CASE and New Holland tractors that were far more solid than this. The other thing that was disturbing was the rear axles ... my garden tractor has thicker axles ... these look like pencils. I have read everywhere that the B - Series are workhorses but from what I've seen they are cheaply constructed and have serious doubts about whether they will last ... and for what they are asking I don't think it's worth the risk. I think I may look at Kioti or Mahindra despite their dealers being so far away.
