well we got two walls up this weekend, the walk thru door, and the trim on top of the two walls. Wanted to make sure it was secure, since we got rain coming again.. And with that will come wonderful Texas winds..
Enjoy the pics..
FYI - Price of this barn has dropped another 500 bucks since I bought mine at J&I.. Price of steel is at a very low price.. Now's a great time to buy !!

Daniel,

I built my shop very similar to how you have started yours. I built a 42x30x14with one 12x12 door in the end wall like you, but have 2 walkthru doors in each side wall as I added 2 lean-to 15x42 along each side. I did not poor the concrete until I had finished the whole building. It worked out very nicely. The concrete sealed up against all of the tin around the bottom. I have now added a full ac unit and foam insulation. I will post some pics soon. I have been to J&I and it is an amazing place with everything you could ever want. I just bought the structural steel from a local steel dealer and then the purlins, sheets, and trim from Mueller. I built it with concrete, elec., and metal for under $15K. That was in 2006. I have 3500 sq. ft of concrete in and around the shop.

well guys, it's done !!
I finished up the last piece of trim last night. I'll try to get some pics tonight and get them posted in the morning.

My plan is to pour a concrete "curb" at the base of the walls in the next couple of weeks. This will somewhat "seal" it from critters getting inside. It will also all the doors something to seal against.

The construction (And especially completion) was a very satisfying endeavor.. I have thoroughly enjoyed building it..
FYI - an R panel roof, on 3" purlins, on 3' centers will definitely hold a man, anywhere he wants to walk on it.. LOL
I'm about 265 (down from 351) and I didn't have any problems getting around the roof to get it all screwed down.

Eddie Walker: You STILL haven't come to see the construction phase.. A little late now. LOL

Only thing I would do differently: Start it when the weather's a little cooler. It got warm the last 10 days or so... And a big guy working on the roof is that much closer to the sun !! LOL

Daniel,
How is the building holding up? I am getting ready to take the trip to J&I.

How are those roll up doors working, I have not heard many good things about them and was trying to decide beteween them and panel doors.

Thanks

Jason

Any opinions on the roll up doors vs. sectional overhead doors?
